I had the shop order a solenoid. They told me I could change it and then come back and sign for warranty service. The part won't be in for a week so I will just wait until then I suppose. I just dread trying to load a dead tractor. At any rate I have found if you turn your tractor over while bumping the loader handle it will slightly lift the loader. To say I'm disappointed in the service is an understatement thus far.

If you do have a power on system, and I believe without a manual shutoff, you do...

The solenoid turns on and off the fuel flow. How about just unplugging it, and manually moving the plunger to the other position.

Even if you have to hold it open while a helper tries to start it, (keeping clear of all moving parts).

If it starts right up, then you know it is something electrical. If not.. Have the dealer come over to diagnose...

No sense in waiting a week....

Agree, would think the dealer would not want bad press on a site like this with so many potential customers trolling the web.

Is there a district or national service rep you can contact? I've had great response when dealing with automobiles.

I don't know your tractor, but I have one question, is it in gear when you try to start it? My tractor will not start if its in gear. It makes all the sounds like it will, but doesn't turn over.

Not saying you didn't think of it, or it applies, just one other possibility. I didn't see this addressed in the thread (maybe I read too fast).

My brother is a plumber, he made a house call to a guys house who said his wallet fell down the toilet. The guy shut off the water, went in his basement and emptied the trap, tried fishing around in the pipe for it. My brother goes in the bathroom, pulls back the shower curtain (thats next to the toilet) and there is the wallet. He still had to charge the guy a service fee ($75).

It is hst and I have put it in neutral numerous times. I am resigned to the fact it has to be electrical. I can't think of anything else.

Does the HST require the clutch to be in while starting?

On my CK25 gear it does, and if the clutch isn't in far enough trip the safety switch, it won't start.

So... If the HST requires the clutch to be in while starting (Dunno wether it does or not since I have never owned a HST) it could be that safety switch as well. Surely there is some sort of safety so you can't start it while standing next to it with it in drive...

I have an ck30 HST also, the cluch needs to pushed in to start. also, if you left it out and water got in the key slot you lose contact. I just had this problem and dealer told me to shoot wd40 in the switch and flip the key back and forth a few time. sure enough it works fine now. i though the battery had died or the starter was shot.

good luck

Call the dealer; tell him to send his tech to the tractor and get it running. Insist on this.

I've read thru all these replies but no where did I see mentioned a simple thing like a test light. Try disconnecting the plug from the solenoid, turn key on, check for power at connection, yes/no? If yes, problem with soleniod, plug the solenoid back in, turn key on and lightly tap on solenoid with something like screwdriver handle.....it may be just "stuck", if still no work....replace.
If no power, trace wire to relay ( I believe it's one of them by the battery). Have someone turn key off/on while you listen at the relay (you should hear a light clicking). Unplug relay, turn key on, check for at least one "hot" wire. If bad relay is suspected, go to auto parts store and buy a 12 volt/XX amp relay, XX being the same amp as OEM. (be sure it has the same number of prongs as the OEM 3 or 4).

Just my 2 1/2 cents worth!

I agree.
You are only 10 minutes away from the dealer. Tell him to send someone to fix it.
You are waiting on a solenoid based on a quess.
