I thought Yanmars were for people on a budget

I have a a YM3000 I bought from dad he bought it in 98 with a cracked block. He gave another 800 for a 200 hour take off skid engine. Dad kept it till 5 years ago then I bought it. Theres a man from Memphis TN that buys Yanmars and repaints them and puts any loader he can find on them and resells. Hes pestered me every 2 weeks for the last year and a half to sell him my tractor. Its a straight old tracto and in good shape. I think last weeks offer was for him to give me a Jinma and Shengfu tractor for my 3000. And he tells me that my old tractors as he calls it isnt worth much.

I wouldn't trade my bicycle for a Jinma & I wouldn't trade my yanmar for a truck load of Jinma's

You might want to shop around a little more though. $9k does sound a little high. For example I see Little Miami (lmtcompany.com) lists a YM2210 with a ROPS for $4,600.

Smoody where are you shopping ??

Kenmac I told him something similar to that but not as nice as you put it lol. This old man buys them and slaps on a paint job Earl shive would be proud of. and slaps a loader on them. THey sell them for an outrageous price. I told him repeatedly that my 3000 is exactly what i wanted and its not for sale. This spring he was after my tiller and KK finish mower.

Tractor---Antique Yanmar
This one showed up today, two exits down I-95 from me. Asked the guy how green paint added 27 HP to it. Told him how it was a grey market tractor, Maybe can not get parts for it. All that good stuff.
Made him an offer.
Don't need it, Already have two Yanmars.
But if he's stupid enough to accept my offer, Then I'm stupid enough to buy it.
We wait, We see.

I don't think it's a YM1900. Look at his picture - the hood side panels are far ahead of the radiator. That hood is off a longer tractor that had the exhaust coming through the center of the hood.

The vertical air cleaner doesn't look right, it looks like a YM1500. The 3-point arm stabilizers look like YM1500. He says 2 speed PTO, YM1900 has three.

Here's a link to his Craigslist photo. (will disappear when the ad expires).

That looks to be a Frankenstein-Mar, maybe a YM1500 with a YM2200 hood???

For comparison I found two dealers' listings with photos of real YM1900's.

RCO.

Techsys.

PBYAN2, a YM1900 should be a near twin to your YM2000, in fact I think it is the same thing but an earlier version. I hope you didn't offer him much.

I would almost put money on it that it is a YM1500 also with the lid off something else

I'm curious now. Maybe should go look at it just for grins.
Guess my offer insulted him. Have not heard back.

Kenmac, all the prices I have gotten are from UTDA dealers. I don't see a point in naming names, but they are "respected" dealers.

Here ya go, exact qoute:

YM2310D with 125 Koyker Loader $10,200.

I have seen JD 790's with buckets on craigslist for 8-11k, 2000+ models, 300-600 Hours on them.

I hope you insulted him good!

I posted some questions through Craigslist to the seller of that green Frankenstein-Mar. Here's her reply:

this tractor is a gray market tractor. It has Japanese tags. I talked with a lot of people and an antique tractor dealer in Georgia. That was their best guess. They could not figure out what I had. The American made tractor did not have a low and high speed PTO. This one does. It is a 2-cyl diesel watercooled engine, but does not have a waterpump. Every tractor dealer here that I deal with, I am a diesel mechanic, could not figure out what it was. We have done a lot of research. It may not be a YM 1900, but that was the closest match with a picture that we could make.
This doesn't answer my question about the horsepower stated in the engine tag. Has anyone else asked the seller a question?

Good luck to whoever buys that "40 horsepower" monster.

The real dealers on here warn us about roadside sellers. This is the clearest example I've ever seen illustrating a trap for some inexperienced buyer. That thing is literally cobbled together out of unrelated parts.
