I thought Yanmars were for people on a budget

Going to look at it this afternoon. Armed with all the engine numbers and whatever else I can find to print out.
Gonna figure out what that monster is.

Sure can't wait to hear what they did for the other 25 HP. it looks to be missing:rolleyes:

Just got back.
Had me some fun. Showed up with a whole hand full of papers. Two of which was actually engine numbers and such. Other ten or so just what ever I had laying around.
Looked at the tractor, Wrote down some numbers, Scratched my head, Said "hummmm" a couple times. Shuffled through my papers and told him he had a YM1500.
Helps a lot if you know where the model number is stamped into the side of the transmission.

Really is not a bad little tractor, No slop in the steering or anything else that I could find.
Looks funny because the radiator was bad when he got it, Replaced it with a bigger one off a generator he had sitting around. Cut a hole in the hood for the radiator cap.
did not have an air cleaner, so used the one off the gererator. Actually a pretty good job on both mods.

Horse power difference thing came from listening to people who knows even less bout Yanmars than he does.

Was interesting to find out that that tractor was made by John Deere.

Can have it hauled 49 miles and unloaded in my yard for $850.00
Decisions, decisions!

Aw heck. If it's solid and ready for some real work (and you're sure you can keep it where nobody can see it :D) then it might actually be worth something.

I thought so far I had the ugliest Yanmar, even if it runs flawlessly. At least it's ugliest compared among the owners who actually post photos. But it sounds like I will soon be handing off the prize to you. :p

But seriously, if it ran long without an air cleaner I would check it out real good before making a decision. Verify good compression and not just a weak battery; get it warm, see if it smokes or dribbles. Pull a disc if possible.

And ... don't expect *any* resale value!

Runs good, no smoke after start up. Starts right up. Guy got it not running. PO had already bought all the parts to rebuild it. Came with the tractor. Assembly required.
Really am not worried about that part.
Just gotta decide if I need another tractor.
Think I got room to park another couple or so.
So guess the "NEED" part don't mean nothing.
Only way you can have too many tractors is if you run outta parking space.

If that tractor was around here it would allready have a new home for 850.00!
