I want a sawmill

Tractors and logmills really go together. I have owned both for many years. You have a great source for timber. Your building projects may take longer but you save lots of money after all is finished and lots of satisfaction in the bargain. good luck with the wife.

Cary, We should talk. I need some 6/4 Oak. Got any?

I have a Timberking 1220. I can saw a Log 20Ft. long and 30 inchs thick. With the options and Shipping I paid 7,100.00 for It. I would not trade It for two Belsaws. This is a good Saw for Me. Have a good day.

I am the NC dealer for Hud-Son bandsaw mills. Prices start at $3000. There will be a price increase 4/1/2011. I try to keep models in stock, which will
saw logs from 18" to 36". The company website is hud-son.com.

After seeing some of the projects here, I am starting to lust after a sawmill. I have the perfect place for it, plenty of timber on my property - tall hemlock, white pines, tons of poplar, and assorted other hardwoods...now if I can just convince the wife of the necessity of one.

Greg,

I have been looking at them and want one for all the projects. Justifying the cost is the main hold up. I have been looking at the Wood-Mizer and get flyers in the mail all the time. Having been in our new home less than 3 years I still have tons of landscaping to do and no time to use a saw mill. We are close enough that we could go in together on one. You buy it and I will use it:thumbsup::D.

David,

The Hud-Son mills are high quality and lower priced mills with several models
for home owners. Either the 21 inch or the 28 inch mills would be a good
choice if funds are limited. On the other hand, a couple of trips to the local
lumber yard will pay for one of these mills. A farmer can saw enough lumber
duing the first month to pay for the mill by sawing for an out building!!

While my degree is in history, I can spot shady economics when i see them! :D
However, if I manage to convince the better half of the "necessity" of a mill, I am sure we could work something out...lol

David,
What's worked for me is to make sure the first project I do with any tool
is for my wife. It's worked for the most part of 47 years!!

I have the oscar 28, have had it for 6yrs and love it. I did add to the rail system and can cut up to 18-19' lumber. I have also cut 36" logs after sizing them some with a chainsaw. This machine MORE then paid for itself building a 2 story house, a couple of garages, and countless others projects.

Do you ever come up to the main plant here in NY, they usually have a wood day around the month of june. They are more then happy to let folks walk through the plant to see how they build their machines{from the ground up}. They also will stand behind their products and and help in any way possible.
