I want a sawmill

A friend built the lifting beam, An gave me the winch for it, Army Grunt

I like your log turner set-up, it was something I had in mind. recently i found using a hi lift/sheepherders jack works but a bit time consuming and more potential for pain :D

Without it I would be sunk.It unloads the trailer,Places the log,Then turns it. Then if you have cut (as I just have in the last few days)3x10x18ft.there for the back poach.Really heavy. Just sling them an off you go:)
I just watched a movie another guy posted. Strangely you never see all the struggling that one will go through getting say a 14" log 12 ft long in place that will if pine weight in at 600lbs. once you get it to a "cant" even using a peeve or cant, its really hard on anyone. (I am not saying it cant be done , but it really takes the "This is fun"out of it.Alaska mills work,But so does a hand saw:)
Ill take a pic after supper of the 3 buys i have sawn.

 turning a large cant is a pain, I have a mini excavator works great. I find one of my bigger pains is dealing with all the slab wood. It doesn't seem like much until the end of the day. I use most of ours to heat the better halfs hot tub, or out door fires.

I bought my Lumbermate mill used (barely) for $1200, not a production mill, but I love it for what I do. :D:confused2::laughing::thumbsup:

Got my wife's permission 3 yrs. ago. Got a Woodmizer LT10. All manual but nice mill for hobby and occasional use. Can go to 24" and 11' length. More w/ extension.

Mine was a demo., but still paid close to $4,000.

Have cut poplar, white & red oak and hickory. Mine is a little underpowered, they now have a 10 hp engine on it I believe.
