I bought my Deere 26g from a dealer about 100 miles away, although they do have a local branch too.

Part of the deal was free delivery, since the weight would be pushing the limits of the trailer I had at that time.

They asked if it would be ok to stop at the neighboring county fair and use it as part of their display, which, prior to cutting the deal with me, they had planned to do.

No problem, I said, well knowing this was an industrial machine designed to sit unattended at a job site for most of its life.

The unit arrived at my shop a few days after the fair ended, along with a few cotton candy fingerprints, mud from the kids boots, etc. The salesman said he thought that my machine was the hit of the fair with the kids who got to sit on it and manipulate the joysticks (engine off of course).

I was pretty proud to have been able to make the fair memorable for some little tykes.

I bought my CTL, a different brand, from a dealer down the road from that Deere dealer. The unit in question had to be shipped from the Milwaukee area, about 400 miles away. Got a smoking deal, since these compact machines fit under the manufacturer’s employee purchase plan, so the discount was available to me.

The dealer called and told my the machine actually had 29 hours on it. Not a rental, but had been loaned to one of the corporate executives for a weekend project.

Again, no problem to me. It arrived in like new condition, except for some scratches on the bucket. They detailed it prior to delivery, and by the end of the next day I had quadruple the bucket scratches, to say nothing about the dust.

I truly think the dealer won on the op’s refusal to accept his seven hour machine. The dealer effectively fired the customer in this case. He sounds like a typical Karen customer who knows nothing about equipment and will never be satisfied.

Lots of keyboard cowboys on this site. I took maybe a year off from this site, and, after reading much od the ranting on this thread, I think I’ll say adios for another six months.

Cheers.
Agree 2000%!

You have a good dealer. And they like you. And they had a use for you. But some folks make themselves not likeable. As do some dealers. It's a tough world we live in, isn't it?

My motto is, he who has the cash to spend, makes the rules. In this case, and from getting a feeling on how the OP likes the condition of the stuff he purchases to be spotless and brand new, and been told it would be delivered that way, I can totally understand that he was pi$$ed when it arrived in used condition. I am **** like that as well, so I certainly can feel the pain he had to go thru with this crappy transaction. At the very least, the dealer should have spent a few hours trying to make it look as new as possible, and then, maybe, it might of been acceptable to the buyer. The last BX2370 I bought had some flaws right from the factory, which I noticed before purchasing it, decided I could live with them, and trailered it home. If the dealer would have delivered that same tractor to me and not told me about those same flaws, I would have rejected accepting the tractor when it showed up at my place, because I would have felt he tried to pull a fast one on me. We are all different, some are picky, some don,t care. In the particular case, the dealer did not do his part on the dealer prep side of things. First impressions on delivery mean a lot to some people, others couldn,t care if a manure spreader had passed by and covered whatever they are buying before it was delivered.

Another point is a lot of small equipment is actively marketed to homeowners…

The home owner or hobby user is an entirely different segment opposed to those that use the equipment to earn their living.

I know a retired engineer hobby horse person… his wife is the horse person and he has every piece of equipment like new… not many I know that wax their tractors… well not regularly like he does.

Man.. If a fella thinks this site is rough in terms of keyboard cowboys, I don't think he gets around much online!

Not a bad thing I suppose.

I'm spoiling my tractor if I park it in the barn and hose it off twice a yr...waxing tractors is city dude stuff.

Does blowing your tractor off with a leaf blower before you tuck it in the garage make you a yuppie? Asking for a friend..

Putting your tractor in a "garage" instead of a barn or machine shed is the line of demarcation. 😃

I washed and waxed my tractor once. I was using it to pull a trailer for wedding. It was the bride's entrance, so it needed to look nice.

Should I ask how large the bride was if she needed a trailer pulled behind a tractor to get to the wedding?? 😂

My neighbor's daughter was married in a ceremony at home. She insisted that her Dad deliver her to the groom sitting in the tractor bucket in her white dress. To each their own I guess.

In May I ordered a new Mini Excavator from the shop I've patronized for 36 years. While they didn't have one in stock the salesman said he would locate one... 2 days later he called and said he had one incoming from another dealer, but it was lacking the quick coupler and bucket and that he'd have to order them.

Several weeks later and after the mini was delivered to my dealer, still no bucket and QC. I knew one of their other dealers had a similar machine and I asked if he could rob those so I could take delivery. He agreed.

I went to the shop on a rainy day and asked if they would get the key so we could check the hours on the machine, I watched the dealer put the key in, turn it, look at the display and he turned to me and said there were no hours on the machine.. (??)

The bucket and QC finally arrived, several days later (2 days ago) they delivered the machine.. I was absolutely shocked. The first thing I did was put the key in, toggle to "hours' and check the meter, 7.1 hours (not the zero i was told when I was at the shop). The machine was beyond dirty. Here are just a few pics I took and sent to the sales guy, zoom in and take a hard look at the filth on the zerk fitting (most were like that), the tracks, the engine compartment was filthy and looked like it was 20 years old, and when I put the front door down under and seat I couldn't believe it. I called the sales guy and told him to have the driver turn around and come get this POS and bring my check back. He suggested he had no idea the Ex was in that shape and stated that it looked like a demo unit.. 30 minutes later and machine is gone after waiting months. Now 2 days later, absolutely no follow-up contact from the sales guy or dealer.

I now believe there was no original bucket or QC cause they showed wear from use, and there's no way they did a DX on that machine w/o knowing its hours or condition. And no one from the dealer even put eyes on that machine, they just shipped it to me like that? I call it a shady, BS deal.

Of course what I want is hard to find, none locally, with months wasted, my hunt continues.. Also, there was a finance promotion that I was going to leverage to finance half the machine at 0%, that is now gone...

I'm just a homeowner with a couple of acres. I purchased this because I can, and I take pride in everything I own. I told my wife that even if they took $10k off that machine (which they NEVER would) I didn't want it. They completely ruined my new buying experience and that if I kept it, every time I looked at it I would remember the disappointment from delivery day.

Zoom way in and enjoy the pics of this 'new' machine...

.
It is used, whether it be 7 hours or 7000 hours, it should not have been represented as new. I don't blame you for being pissed, but I might have handled it as an opportunity to get some money back, your prerogative to handle it as you please though.

A question for the OP, where are you at with this problem ? Did you ever get a refund or another machine to replace this one ?

/ I Went To Purchase A New Mini-Excavator And This Happened..... #197
That’s incredibly frustrating after waiting that long, you definitely deserved a clean, zero-hour machine. It’s like ordering a brand-new labubu costume and getting one that’s already worn — totally ruins the excitement.
I have no idea what a labaloo costume is, but this may be the weirdest post I’ve ever seen on TBN

I understand your thinking about this and I would feel the same way. You looked forward to getting a new machine and they tried to pawn off a used machine.

Howdy,

Nope, I didn't ask and the dealer didn't offer any remedy so it is what it is.. I'd rather absorb the delay and start over fresh and have a good experience..

thanks.

.
I think he bought from a different dealer. I don't think the original dealer is sad about it.
