The truth is that most people are better equipped socially and economically to succeed in the USA, and become truly American, if they learn to use English. People have come here from literally all over the world to become Americans. Being proud of your ancestry is a good thing, but living in an enclave in America limits your horizons! What could I expect if I only spoke Cambodian, but wanted to live and work in Turkey? Not much!!
Converting English from an emigrant's second language to his first is a significant accomplishment, and a goal that each emigrant should strive for. Helping emigrants to retain their native language to use in everyday life does them, and the greater population, a great disservice!
I don't see anything written in the TBN rules that says posts must be written in American English. The www. is exactly that-- worldwide. Many of the posters here are from other countries-- Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Pennsylvania /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, etc. I don't see this as a strictly American website, and I don't see the need to insist on American English.
The goal here is to discuss and learn about tractors in a fun and productive manner with people all over the world! Ninety-five plus percent of the posters here are American, so English will continue to be the prevalent language, unless the membership rolls take a massive shift in another direction, but it is not mandatory!
Let's go back to talking about tractors and other fun things, smile, and enjoy the great outdoors! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
