How do you transport the sap? Substitute 5 gallon pails or wooden boxes of gravel...plus the FEL bucket
If you start closest to your gravel source and work towards the far end (sounds logical but some choose to work on the roughest spots first, even though they are bouncing over trail that they will repair later) you can make a lot of trips in a day. You might even find a spot beside the trail with some fill that you can use....

Have you tried a heavy box blade? Is there enough material on your trails to distribute? After all, you don't need a highway for a sap run.

^+1.
Cut & fill, same way the town & state builds roads.
Plus a good, heavy box blade will give you nice ballast for a full scoop of gravel in the FEL.

If you are filling soggy spots put down some geotextile first. It keeps the gravel on the surface where it belongs.

I'm thinking of something like the salt/sand spreader the highway dept. uses in the winter. A large hopper, with an open bottom, and a conveyor belt under the opening. But for your use, have the conveyor belt run left to right. Run the conveyor to deposit gravel to one side or the other, depending on which way the conveyor runs.

+1 on five gallon buckets. In my business we often have to move quantities of dirt, rock, sand etc where we don t have machine access. We use loader to load buckets 20 at a time, throw them on hand truck or wheel barrow,we can move a lot of material pretty efficiently. In your case load buckets, put on carry-all, trailer or fel and dump exactly where you need. you could even line your trailer with empty buckets and load, at least 75% would be easier to unload in buckets. You can grab a bucket and dump quicker than you could shovel same quantity. Of course building something would be more fun.

Would a concrete buggy work? We had 2 of them here last year pouring concrete and they each held 1 cubic yard.
