idiot/indicator lights

My 1602D does have a light, but it only glows when you turn the switch to the left, and goes out when you crank or when the motor starts, to indicate the the thrmostart is operating. If this is what you think you have, that's my understanding of how it should work. I also only use it in cold conditions, it simply doesn't need it when it's warm out.........

Ok, that is the same as my tractor (1510D) and I only use mine when it is cold, too. I have used tractors with glow plugs though, that you first turned the key to the left until the light went out, then you turned it right to start it. I thought that's what he meant.

Right, I've had glow plugs too............

Mine kinda works the same way in that it's on a timer. I turn it left till the light goes out (30 sec to a minute), then right to crank it over.

Since I have a clutch safety switch, it works the same way if I turn it to the right and hold it in the start position, but don't push in the clutch. When the light goes out, I kick in the clutch while still holding the key in the crank position, and it cranks and starts.......... but, the light always goes out and stays off when it's running. Hope I'm not confusing you more!
