Larry, one of my brothers told me about a dozer getting deeply mired on the tundra when the Alaskan Pipeline was being built. He said they couldn't drive it out, and even with a strong enough cable to another huge dozer on solid ground, couldn't pull it out. So the company's "powder monkey" attached dynamite to the top of each track (I don't remember how much), then the dozer operator slowly turned the tracks until the dynamite was centered at the bottom, under each track. The operator had the engine running ready to take off wide open, the other dozer started straining at the cable, and when the powder monkey detonated the dynamite, that popped the stuck dozer up enough it broke loose from the suction, and away they went.
Now if they actually did that, the dozer operator would sure have to have a lot of confidence in that powder monkey's expertise. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
