It seems to be working now? Here is what I did with the tool pouch. For longer tools you could use a welders rod pouch attached to your ROPS.

If I were a JD engineer: I would leave enough space to carry a cooler of beer on my 4300. Their bigger tractors all have enough room and who wants to stop 4 times when mowing the yard (or 10 times).

If you are looking for a good cup holder for rough conditions, go to a boat shop or website.

If I were a JD engineer: I would make sure all of the grease fittings were noted in the owners manual and put the fittings in locations where you can actually get to them!

If I were a JD engineer: I would make sure all changes to the owners manual actually get back to the owner.

If I were a JD engineer: I would make the 4 wheel/2 wheel drive lever easier to get to, or make it a push/pull switch so my wife would actually take it out of 4 wheel drive when cutting around the trees and bushes.

If I were a JD engineer: I would put a temperature gage on the dash especially since they engineered the front radiator screen to catch and retain all grass clippings causing the engine to overheat.

If I were a JD engineer: I would put the fuel filler cap a little bit closer to the side of the hood so my wife won't lean the can on the hood while she is fueling the machine causing scratches to my poor babies shinny green paint.:(

If I were a JD engineer: I would engineer the rear tail lights so they didn't stick out and catch every branch my wife gets close to. Poor branches and poor light housings. I've had to cut one and replace the other.

If I were a JD engineer: I would and of course the cup holder ( I successfully modified mine so my wife wouldn't keep on loosing her water bottle) and tool storage. (I added two ammo boxes for my storage needs.

If I were a JD engineer: I would make sure every tractor made comes with a tractor washer as pretty as mine!

If I were a JD engineer I would look at foggy's grille gaurd that covers 100% of the grille and not 60% like the current "deluxe" JD grille gaurd. :D Looks nice too. ;)

I just use the welded rods to jam the top link barrel against the nut...no wrench. I've never had it loosen on me.As far as your tools, can't you just use the loader bucket for the longer ones and the tool compartment (on the left fender) for the wrench and other smaller tools? As far as modifying...the best I've seen is guys welding boxes to their Quick Hitch sides. That seems to work quite well.

If I dont fix the Jamb-nut real tight my adjustments WILL change when operating the tractor. I've noticed my cutter going out of adjustment, my box blade and my disc. I don't like leaving things to chance or from the variations that come with the top link losing its setting. Then too....if it's just "snug" it may be wrench-tight when it comes time to change.

I do realize I can make lots of these mods...and I DO make my share of them. I post 'em all the time. My point is....these are easy engineering tasks for DEERE engineers to accomplish. Some....like the blasted cup holder.....just tick me off.....especially when its hot and I'm thirsty - and my water bottle is GONE.

When you buy the "top shelf brand" these things should be taken care of IMO.

As for placing tools in the bucket....I quit doing that trick after placing my chain saw in the bucket and then filling the bucket with debris on numerous occasions. Also....I typically have my root grapple on in lieu of a bucket. :) I do realize there are lots of work-arounds. I simply want JD engineers to do a few of these items as standard. I gotta beleive they could make some tool holders and place 'em in a convenient place. It would not cost much to do this. A simple set of steel "loops" located on the ROPS that will hold a crecent wrench is no big deal......but, IF I WELD on the ROPS it IS a big deal.

BTW, anyone else experiencing formatting problems when responding to threads?

Roy,
This site has been having weird problems for a few days. The formatting problem is just one of them.

How about a few more tips for JD engineers to improve upon?

JD engineers should talk to JD engineers in other departments so the right hand knows what the left hand is doing. I have JD front blade and JD FEL. In order to mount FEL I have to spend 30 minutes removing the brackets for the front blade. If the brackets were 1/2" shorter that would be unnecessary.

I understand your concerns. Especially for your wife. Very admirable! Not all of us would show such concern, even on Mother's Day. Your wife is very lucky to have you as a husband.
