I would rather have the metal because you just barely hit something the plastic breaks. I can fix a dent with a hammer, in order to fix plastic, you need to replace the whole thing. I'd rather them use more metal.

My post was suppose to state ...use far less plastic to build lawnmowers and tractors. I really messed up that post :) I will edit the post. Like you I do not like plastic on a something build to use in an often inhospitable environment. I have cracked and repaired the hood on my JD lawnmower a couple of times. I much prefer the metal construction of my Mahindra tractor.

My post is too old to edit.

I would make the 5065M have an optional HST transmission so I could help out the economy by going into some serious debt :D

I agree with your thoughts on lawn mowers, I use a 60 HP tractor in the woods and for medium duty use. And it has a plastic hood!!! I don't know what these engineers are doing sometimes. They need to have ag engineers that have experience in agriculture instead of book learning engineers. Sorry I didn't understand your post.

All of Deere's tractors have plastic hoods as do their combines and other large self-propelled equipment. Most are sheet molding compound which is pretty repairable but some are injection molded and have been known to heat soak and the shrink fit to the engine under extreme conditions. Of course it only takes once and it is very hard to get off - even in pieces!

I gave up on losing stuff...So, I decided to fix the problem. I hung a piece of Vinyl Coated Closet wire shelf off the rops using threaded rod and U Clamps. Tied on two metal baskets to that. I can carry all KINDS of "Stuff" now.

A couple of Carabiners off the bottom to hook stuff and I be stylin'. I'll try to remember to take some pictures.

Design and sell weighted, approx. 100lb, rear wheel spacers to add stability and give an alternative option for loaded tires. For very heavy FEL loads an impliment added to the back 3pt should compliment well. ---- Fuse
