Mark, Mine was a 87 and was hydro w/ power steering. Your tires are the correct ones as well. Be careful, after using this little tractor for a while, you might want to sell "big Blue" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif................

Uh Uh !! No Way !! Never gonna happen !!
My Boomer has become a part of my soul. It would be like selling a member of my family. In fact. for a few family members that would be ok. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif But not this one. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Von,
to be honest. I have truly done some thinking on reasons to keep it. But for every reason to keep it, there a stronger reasons for where it just wouldn't make pratical sense.

You may well be right. I did some quick looking around the steering column and there appears to be now way that it was ever designed to adjust or bend. I will now look into how the dash and cowling need to come up.

Dunno. My Dad was getting a filter for it, and had Kubota run the number; mine came up as an '87.

Mine is HST 4wd, but has no power steering. I am slowly changing from Turf to R4. I have R4 rim/tire on the back, w/turf on front right now. My rear turfs got a nail, but the side wall was too weathered to remount safely. I put TnT on it a couple years ago. Three years ago I added the loader; I got a Bushhog.

Yes, the front is light with a mower mounted on the back. Even with weight on the front, it is still light...

These things are tanks compared to the other smaller Kubota's. Like I mentioned though, I feel the 19hp is a bit under powered for the size of the tractor. Note they have 29hp(B2910) in the same size tractor these days.

Mine works its little heart out though! Biggest spot I have problems is mowing my Dad's property. It has thick tall grass in the fields that just bog me down, even with the smaller 48" rear rotary mower.

RobertN,
If you don't mind me asking. What was the cost of your loader installed.

$3100... I got quotes from two Kubota dealers, and three independants. The independant shop 3 minutes from my house installed it.

All right. Now I know that I have read a little about these in previous threads on this board, but don't ask me where.
What does the Compression Release do and how is it properly used ?

/ If it follows me home, Can I keep it ? #48
The compression release on the older madels allowed the starter to spin faster. If memory serves, you would push the compression release until the starter got up to speed and then you would release the compression release so the unit would start.....At least that was the way we used the compression release to start up an old Cat with a donkey gas starter engine. Of course that was 40 some odd years ago.
Does that tractor have a 6 or a twelve volt system? I would think that the twelve volt system would have enough juice to spin the moter over.
Maybe someone else can add some more info.

Sandy,
The tractor is a 12 volt system and turns over well. As long as I give the glow plugs a chance to do their job, the engine starts nicely. I am usure of the age of the battery and expect that a new one would improve things greatly.
I have no knowledge or experiance with a "compression release" and I want to learn about it.
The release on the B8200 is a knob / cable that you pull.
I can easily follow the cable to the top rear of the engine. But I don't know what it does from there, or when one would use it, or how.

a "compression release" is just what it is. You still find them on large chain saws. Somewhere at the top of the pistons when you pull the knob a very small valve opens to relieve some of the compression and this allows the starter to spin faster and not work hard doing it. It is usually only used when starting, after the engine starts push it to the closed postion. I had an old JD 2 cyl that had manual release's on ecah cyl. and they were a big help when starting cause she was a hand cranker.
