Axle matching will de-stroke pump on the faster turning axle to slow it down to match the other. That is why when one motor gets weak or fails drive stops with axle matching on because it de-strokes the good working pump/axle to match the speed of the bad one.

I have a line in a toolcat that runs and looks very clean but has very high hours (9000) Other than the engine what are other things to be concerned about for service/repair with those hours?

It's a 2011 toolcat 5600 for reference.

Thats a lot of hours! My only concern would be drive motors and pumps getting tired. You also can ask to have a dealer plug into the unit and get a warning code history. This will tell you if the unit was ever overheated,low oil PSI,thing like that.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've just asked for that. Part of the problem is the unit is three states away so it's not like I can just pop over and look at it.

Are you positive it has 9000 hr. or could it possibly be 900 hours? The hour meter on these read to 1/10th. 9000 hrs. on 4 year old machine averages out to little over 8 hours per day, 5 days a week.

It's 9000 and the price reflects it. Was owned by a large cattle company used mainly as a sweeper/snow blower.

Runs and everything works but dealer said it does smoke some and it is being sold as is. If I bought it I'm essentially figuring I'd be replacing the motor in fairly short order just wondering what else to be thinking about. Body is very clean.

I'm considering purchasing a toolcat for my 50 acre farm. I'll use it for mowing, post hole digging, loader work, utility work, etc. Two questions:

1). Can anyone confirm if a CAT 247B attachments will fit on the Tool Cat? I have a grapple rake, post hole digger, bucket, and fork.
2). How does a price of 55k sound with the 72" mower?

I plan to sell my multi terrain CAT, a kubota 331 zero turn and Yamaha rhino and consolidate into one machine. We'd prefer a machine with a cab and AC; that's the impetus for making the change.

Any advice/thoughts would be most appreciated.

I have never used a tool cat, but I can't imagine you will be happy mowing with one after owning a ZTR.

Unless it was dirt cheap I would have to pass. Have you seen what a replacement engine cost? I'm sure everything else that is bound to break isn't cheap either. When you have a high hour piece of equipment or a high mileage vehicle you better be prepared to spend money fixing it.

I can confirm that. I have both and they are interchangeable implements. However that being said, I feel that the two pieces of equipment are complimentary to each other. Although they could overlap many of the tasks we do here, some of the task would be very difficult if not using the correct one. ie: toolcat is great for traming rolls of hay were the 247 would take very long, however the 247 is better suited for stacking rolls at the barn. 247 is better for feeding in the knee deep mud of the feed lot where the toolcat would become stuck. Toolcat is great for carrying tools and ppl for chores liking fence repair or cutting firewood,247 not so much. One big difference is the toolcat will not move or dig dirt like the 247 can. Good luck
