Just buy

I bought 3 for $130 and they will last a LONG time.

But you have to get them on sale.
Where are you finding them? 3 for $130 is a real bargain for a safety can

I bought a few for diesel and was unable to figure out how to get anything at all to flow out them. They had an item that you rotate on the filler neck, but regardless of what I did, I could not get a drop to come out. So I took off the stupid filler neck and use a big funnel.

The net outcome of this kind of BS is that there will be MORE fuel spills, not less. This crap has long passed the point of benefiting anyone. The only one who benefits now is the guy who patented the (non working) stupid filler neck!

I took the filler neck off drilled a 1/2" hole thru the saftety device. works great!!

I found a simpler solution to the gurgling gas can problem. On all of my newer cans with the 'built in' vent, triggers, you-name-it, I ripped the guts out of the spouts and put in a $0.49 old style plastic vent.

Putting in the vent was super simple - just drill a 1/2" hole near the top of the pouring angle, set the vent on the hole, and bang it once with a rubber hammer to pop it in place. Viola - leak-proof vent. I set mine close enough to the can's handle so I can start the pour slowly, then flick the vent open when I want it to fill full speed.

Where do you get the vents? I have one of the new Easy Pour push button cans and really like it but a real vent would sure speed things up.

Thanks! I am amazed at the prices on old school non govt spouts. Good old American Capitalism, supply and demand I guess.

That's where I bought mine. They run about 50-cents or so each, takes 2 minutes to install, and makes those $20 gas cans obsolete.

One tip which you probably already know, when you drill your 1/2" hole in your plastic can, dip the end of your drill bit in some grease. That will catch any shavings, saving you from having to rinse your can out. Even so, it's a good idea to look inside the can to see if any dropped inside. If so, simply shake it out and perhaps rinse it. So far, I have not had to rinse though.

You can take your air blow gun, and blow into the 1/2 inch hole and let the shavings come out of the large hole too.
