Thanks, Tom for the part number. I'll do some calling around.

Not sure about the B5100, but my B6100 is HST. To me, HST is THE answer to grass mowing. It was such a pain to back up with the lawn tractor....shut off the mower deck by raising it (or it will shut off the tractor when shifted into reverse), clutch to reverse, fan the clutch to get the gears to engage, back up 3", reverse the proceedure to go ahead....sigh*. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
HST...lift your toe on the front of the rocker, apply heal pressure to the back of the lever, back up 3", toe the front again....ahhh! Nice! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

1*B6100 HST-E, MMM, 48" rear blade, 48" front snowplow.

<font color="purple"> I remember some years back Kubota came out with a small tractor that had a FEL available but I wasn't interested in it because you couldn't get a BH for it.
Anybody have any idea what the model number and year of it was???

In this picture you can see the blower on back with the slightly modified ATV plow on the front. I used the stock mower mount bracket and made another bracket that bolted to the first one to carry the plow. Un-bolt the bracket in the spring and attatch the MMM and go mowing. The plow lifts with a manual lift lever, seen on the other side of the tractor. It doesn't lift very high, but high enough. It will push a lot of snow. Simple, but effective.

Of course I can replace the blower with the rear blade if I want.

Hi All,
I am new to this board and found this thread about the Kubota B5100. I have one of these that I bought used about 5 years ago. Other than needing new brake shoes this little tractor has worked great for small jobs. When I bought it the battery was dead and I had to replace the battery. I have had problems with the batteries draining down. I think that it is the ignition switch. I was planning on removing the switch and replacing it with a new one but can't figure out how to remove it. Looks like maybe the bezel on the front should screw off and then be able to remove the switch? Any Ideas anyone?
Thanks
Jackie

If it is like my switch, and I think it is, the bezel will unscrew to remove the switch.
The diodes inside the rectifier may also be a problem. A faulty diode will allow current from the battery to drain back into the alternator, killing the battery.
Is the charging system working? These tractors have rather weak charging systems, so lots of starts will run them down.
Check with a volt meter at the battery to be sure it's charging, and an ammeter to see if it's draining. Checking for a battery drain with an ammeter will eliminate any guess work as to the point of problem, as you can eliminate one thing at a time till you find the culprit.

Thanks for the information. I have not checked to see if it was charging when it was running. However, I did use my multimeter to see that there was still current flowing through the system even though I had the switch turned off. I have a new switch on order and should be here any day. Will recheck everything this weekend. I've got a friend that knows more about these things than I do. I will ask him to recheck everything for me.

The only other thing that needs to be done is adjust the brakes. They may be just worn out but will try adjusting them some more. Any information on how hard it is to change the brake pads out on one of these?
Thanks
Jackie

Thought you guys might like to see what the little Kubotas in Japan look like now.

The attached picture is of a 2 cylinder 11 or 12 HP that may be similar in size to the B6000...(hard to tell, but judging from the look of the seat and steering wheel, may be close?)

This picture was taken in Japan in Novemeber of 2003...if I remember right this one was water cooled.
