Illegal to buy gas?

I got a call once from my dad, he had just left the gas station and ran out of gas.seems he goes there just to gossip . lol
So I had to go and puch him about a mile back to the station.

My daughter when she was a senior in high school, wanted to borrow my pickup. I gave her $10 to put gas in it, (1987) when I jumped in it to go to work the next morning, it was sitting below the "E" !! I ran out of gas within a 1/4 mile of our driveway, the nearest station was 14 miles away!! On a positive note: that never happened again!! Her mother is the trash "goes on the floorboard" type. And the "don't clean the car- no matter what" type.

I think its just the difference between people who buy gas in the morning, leaving the house, or on the evening on the way home.

My wife definitely is in the "I'll get gas nex time I leave the house" camp, while I am in the "I better fill up on the way home while I have a few extra minutes because who knows how late I may be running tomorrow" camp.

Of course, on the weekends, we always drive her truck (do you call an Explorer a truck?) because its setup better to haul the kids, and invariably, first thing we do is stop and I get out and pump gas for her.

On another subject, its always good to drive the wife's vehicle once in a while. You always notice things she would never mention. Mostly its simple stuff like keeping air in the tires, noticing the oil hasn't been changed in 7000 miles, or its time for some new wiper blades. Sometimes its big stuff like that grinding noise in the rear axle that I knew wasn't right that she said she had been ignoring for months. Lucky I noticed it before the warranty expired. It turned out to be a known problem with the limited slip that would have cost thousands to fix if the odometer had happened to have ticked over 30,000.

This thread is great. Best laughs I've had in a bit. I always keep a can of gas in the shop. "Just in case" Seems like I have needed it more than once.

if your wife is one of them that constantly run around on E, and you don't drive the vehicle, dont do anything.

I'd let my OL sit on the side of the road if she did something that dumb. tell her to wait for AAA to come and put fuel in the vehicle.

if you have to share a vehicle with someone who cant put fuel in a vehicle, what you do is only add the bare minimum if you drive it.

if I know the truck get 15 mpg and I'm going 10 miles, I would put one gallon in it.

Nice theory, but I'm not going to put my wife through that, no matter how frustrating her approach is.

I also know the $$$ for fuel system problems comes out of my assets whether or not it's from her bad driving practice.

she has her bills, I have mine..

she buys her gas, I buy mine.

I've been married for over 35 years but not to the same woman.
Every time I get one trained to get her own gas she figures she can dump me.

I blame this on my father -in-law.... he NEVER NEVER let his wife or girls put gas in the car... every Saturday morning, he would get up and take each car in turn to the station and fill the tank!!!

When I asked him why he was doing this to ME! he gave me a little sound advice... Now that you don't have full service (he did this before then too), you don't want to find the oil light on, the tires flat/bald, or have to rely on the lady telling you it is making a funny noise, LIKE A SCREAMING WHEEL BEARING!! that had been making the noise for 100 miles!

So it just a little preventative maintenance - guess it got it right!
