Illegal to buy gas?

I blame this on my father -in-law.... he NEVER NEVER let his wife or girls put gas in the car... every Saturday morning, he would get up and take each car in turn to the station and fill the tank!!!

When I asked him why he was doing this to ME! he gave me a little sound advice... Now that you don't have full service (he did this before then too), you don't want to find the oil light on, the tires flat/bald, or have to rely on the lady telling you it is making a funny noise, LIKE A SCREAMING WHEEL BEARING!! that had been making the noise for 100 miles!

So it just a little preventative maintenance - guess he got it right!

Put me in the lucky column. My wife borrowed my truck last night, it had 3/4 of a tank of gas in it. When I got in this morning it was full! She does this all the time.

On the flip side.. I'd rather my wife 'alert' me when the vehicle needs something... I still remember her calling me from work one day telling me that when she pulled in, the yellow check engine light came on, so she kept adding oil to the engine till she ran out of 'spare' qts in the trunk.

Yep.. I had to drive to her work with a drain pan and drain out a few qts oil before she could go home... it was then that I showed her the red lamp next to the yellow lamp when you start the car.. I still don't think she understood the yellow/caution / red !stop! idea..

while I don't put gas in my OL's car, she's good about telling me if she thinks something wrong.

she just came in and wants me to look at the tires. one looks funny
( her words).

I'll give her credit, she has changed her own flat tire already, didn't call anybody.

OL can't be related to the rest of her family, my sister in law is making payments on a car and she hasn't drove it in six weeks because the one tire is down to the cord and went flat. she's to sorry to air it up and go buy a tire. Her boyfriend isn't any better. they been sharing his car. I'm flabbergasted with them, I cant believe anybody is so sorry that they wont even put air in a tire and go buy a new one.

I've been married for over 35 years but not to the same woman.
1*Every time I get one trained to get her own gas she figures she can dump me.
I like what John said too.

1*Quit training them or is this your goal.

Yep.. some people just don't try.

At my night job, I was leaving one night and there was a waitress in t he aprking lot with her hood up. I go over to see if she needs a jump.. she thought she did.. turns out her battery cable was loose and wouldn't make a good connection. She had told her B/F about it and he said it looked ok.

The bolt was so coroded that I couldn't get it to move with a wrench or socket. She looked a bit forlorned.. I said.. 'no problem', and reached into my pocket and pulled out a penny.. laid it on the ground and gave it a couple good whacks with the handle of a adjustable wrench ( those can be used as hammer right? ). making it half mooned shaped. I then drove it between the slightly loose bat cable and the 'non adjustable' clamp.. worked like a charm... she looked at me like I had just performed magic or something... kinda sad...

I told her to call her dad and tell him she needed a new positive cable clamp.. or at least a replacement bolt/nut for it. ( the next week she informed that yes.. her dad DID put a new nut/bolt in it after she asked her B/F to fix it, and her B/F said the penny would last just fine! )

My wife just called literally 5 minutes ago and asked where she can buy diesel near the shopping mall she's been at. Answer - not anywhere close, because it's center of an urban area, the few gas stations are gas only. So she's going to a good station about 6 miles from there and asked me if she has enough fuel to get there. !!!!!! Said gas needle is at about 1/16 of a tank. Aaaarrrggghhhhh.

For those who think I should just wait til she runs out some day, (1) I'm not that mean, (2) I don't feel like paying for a new injector pump, (3) I don't feel like trying to prime the fuel system after it's been emptied.

Did I mention, aaarrrggghhhhh!!!!

My wife believes that the quantity of fuel in our vehicle is solely contingent upon the amount of time that has elapsed between the point in time that the vehicle was last refueled and the present moment.

Please allow me to elaborate.

Scenario #1: She filled the tank yesterday and the vehicle has hardly been driven since.

Scenario #2: She filled the tank yesterday and has since driven it almost dry.

Either way, if I were to ask her how much gas is in the vehicle prior to my using it, the answer would be the same: "I just filled it up yesterday, honey."

I just shake my head, plan for the worst (E) and hope for the best (F).

Somethings just don't change ... all this time later and yesterday again ... when I jumped in her truck EMPTY !!!

My wife's vehicle she will keep full of gas.

Lawnmower / gator / atv, not a drop. If she mows and runs out, that is where the lawnmower will sit until I get home and go fill it up.
