Have the wheels and wheel motors all cleaned up and no sign of leaky hose's or that anything was loose .. A few before and after shots. What a mess I see the tires were loaded.. Drove it around tonight it is running smooth no squeaks or knocks or noises of any kind..

I'm thrilled with this deal, she's an old girl but very low hours. I have a good solid machine. I torqued the wheel bolts to 60 I'm sure they could take up to 80 or more. Didn't want to take the chance of snapping one off. Can't wait to strip it down when I have the time and repaint everything.

Well, the 'after' picture of the wheel motor sure makes it look like she doesn't really need paint...!!

Good for you on a great buy,

Thanks .. It does need a little paint in certain areas, but it's really not all that bad. It was outside under a 6 foot over hang most of it's life somewhat exposed to the elements. I painted the arms the bucket and the back cover yesterday.

I will be doing the rest sometime in the next 3 weeks. Just to protect the metal from any further rust, rain and the upcoming snow this winter.

For my last PT, I built a cab even though it was kind of Ugly the inside was very comfortable. it kept me warm, dry and blocked the wind. Plan on getting a rop's in the next couple of weeks.

This time around, I may put something like a golf cart cover over the rop's for the winter to block snow and wind. By fall I'll have it closer to it's original condition..

Well... I wouldn't say the cab was any uglier than the rest of the machine...! (PTs are Ugly Betty's of the tractor world; kinda attractive in their own way...)

I would think building a cab for the 2nd time will be that much easier and better after doing all the figuring on the 1st one!

Cheers,

I don't think they are ugly, just different... In my world I've always liked different .. There are lots of tractors around this area driving up and down the roads small and large. We have a Kubota dealership close by ..

The ones you usually see are proud Kubota owners.. I had one and loved it , great little home owner tractor for light duty work. People would drive by and throw me a causal look while out plowing snow or moving things around the property..

The difference is when on the PT people stop and ask me what it is, or stop in the middle of the road just to stare when I'm using it. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know..

As for a cab will be looking for something for a temporary wind break and to keep the sideways blowing snow off of me.. The cab was nice but a pain in the *** to build. This time around I'll subscribe to the KISS rule ... ;)

Picked up some new shuzz for the 1425. May wait to put them on .. I think they are a good compromise between bar and turf.
Should be easier on the lawn and better traction in the snow..

Time will tell ..
