You remember that the harder you push the peddle the less efficient your tractor is. It is inverse of your car, lighter treddle is better for steeper hills.

Well the more I look at this old Power Trac the more I'm convinced I got a great deal.. Paid less then half for a new 422.

I don't put much faith in hour meters or someones word when they are trying to sell something.. But every once in a while people are honest .. The tires are 4-ply bar and they have dry rot around the sides. Indication to me they are the original tires with almost new like tread on them. That with the smooth running Kolher tells me. This really is an old tractor with only 631 hours on it..

Perfect all I need to do is upgrade the arms and plate into using the modern attachments and add an extra valve.. On the down side there was only 10 psi in one back tire 5 psi on the other side and 29 in the two front tires.. :confused3:

I put 11 in the front for heavy loads and 10 in the back for now. What tire pressure do you guys recommend in your 422's 425's . I will be replacing these tires with regular turf, They worked great on my 180 for plowing snow and they are easier on the lawn.. Now if I can find at least a 4-ply in a turf I'll be happy..

I run around 10psi all the way around on my 425.

As for the hour meter, if its working, you may actually have LESS hours than that, as I once left my key on for a few days and racked up 50hrs on the meter. :laughing:

8# in the rear, 10# in front.

I just bought a replacement Carlisle Multi Trac CS Turf tire from Amazon. 6 ply. They had the best price I could find (it was $98 when I purchased it, now $108).

You can find the Carlisle Turf Masters for a cheaper price, but those are 4 ply.

Others have recommended Stop & Go Tires, but they didn't have the multi-trac in the size I needed, but they do have the Turf Masters for $75:

When you do replace your tires, I recommend you put a flush valve stem on the inside... at least of the left front tire that gets filled with grass when mowing. I had two flats from that valve stem getting ripped off.

I Appreciate the information on the tires gives me a great place to start.. I got a 9 inch Auger and a finish mower with the tractor, but I'll stick with our lawn tractor for cutting grass. I needed another machine to do a lot of digging landscaping, crawling around back in the woods and to move rocks, tree's etc.. So will be looking at the 6-ply for starters and valve stem relocate tip will come in handy. On the list after I get myself a Rop's ..
