I'm declaring spring

Cutting wood two days ago I was sweating in a t shirt. Right now it's back to winter storm.
But it must be spring I saw a robin yesterday.

When I had my tractor delivered last November I also had my 72' Landpride Brush Cutter delivered. I had intended to cut my overgrown pastures. A few days after they were delivered it snowed...and snowed and snowed. Until last week I hadn't seen my Landpride cutter. It was buried in snow. At last, spring is finally arriving. This last winter has been our heaviest snowfall in 15 years in Central Utah. We need the water so I can have nice green pastures but I had been spoiled by our lack of snow in years past. It will be a while before I will need to use the mower but at least I can see it again!

We're back to winter also, not much snow this time but temps in the 20s. I'm ready for spring!

A mixed flock of redwing blackbirds and grackles touched down in our yard, yesterday. Haven't seen them since the Fall, so my "plant manager" has officially declared it "Spring", here in central Connecticut.

Hope you guys will keep the back door shut (up north there). ;)

I want to put some young tomato plants in the ground. Also need to get my 'taters in the ground.

I am about ready to send a message to the U of ID to postpone sending my seedlings from 3/31 to sometime in April as I don't think the snow will be gone by then. At least the piles along the road have shrunk so I can see over them now. The road is a mixture of bare, mud and ice-ruts, but yes, spring is in the air - albeit cold air.

Hiya,

Update on the snow pack "now that spring is here". We had an inch or so of rain and 40 degree temps. It must be getting closer to spring, the run off is running hard off the summit. I saw the top link point on my York rake today, it's been buried in snow since late November, almost forgot where I left it.

On the other hand, the weather guy said 'nuther winter storm heading in for the weekend......

Ottawa got another foot of snow yesterday. That should put us over 11' feet this year which is a new record. Forecast is for another foot on Saturday. I think we have postponed spring for another week or so.

Spring is still a ways off up here! I keep cutting firewood and it keeps disappearing under a little more snow!
I used to have a 4 wheeler, two boats, kids trampoline and more in the back yard but I now have just (barely) two humps out there!

Snow is nearly chest deep in the woods and if not for my friends skidder, I'd be out of work.
Had to hire a tractor with a bucket to tip my snow banks back in the driveway, as the plow couldn't move it anymore.

Yea, I'm freaking ready for it but it's not HERE yet!

Most of our snow is gone now, except on the north side of the roofs. The puddles left from melting snow were frozen this morning at 22 degrees. But the sun's shining bright, ought to reach at least 50 degrees today. Yesterday afternoon, I saw my first cock Cardinal of the year in one of the trees in the backyard, and right now if I step outside, it's plumb noisy with all the birds chirping and singing; especially the mockingbirds.

So, yep, it's time to declare Spring.

Out here in the desert, spring is a season that's 3 days long and starts on a Tuesday! Takes that long to go from too cold to too HOT!

Spring? We never even had winter. Drought still in effect here so I am fearful of mowing yet. Come on Spring showers to green up my overgrown fields.

New tractor owner and itching to use mower/tractor for more than dirt mover.

It must be spring because the brown footprints all over the white linoleum are telling me it's time to get some more gravel for the driveway.

The state took the plows off all of their dump trucks -so it must be spring.

Around here that's a sure sign that there's going to be a heavy April Snow storm.

I've see them get caught like that with their pants down,or would it be plows down in this case.

Funny how a foot and a half of snow in January doesn't phase us, but 3 inches in April can shut a county down.

I couldn't help resurrecting this thread to tell everyone that it's snowing here today. May 12th! It's actually kind of pretty. Big, fat, wet snowflakes falling on freshly mowed green grass. We've had snow at least one day of the week for the last 4 weeks or so.

Even for Idaho this is a little unusual. There's not enough to plow, but it's definately snow. It's going to be good for the grain farmers, but potatoes are going to be late this year.

I love this part of the country! We get all four seasons... Nearly every day.
