Further information on adjusting that top link length:

On most rotary cutters you want the rear end to be slightly higher than the front. If you screw in the top link to make is shorter it will raise the rear.
Most finish mowers you want to be square especially side discharge units.

Box blades and rear blades, you will adjust the "angle of attack" by adjusting the top link.. Make small adjustments. You sometimes just have to experiment to find the correct angle for what you want to do.. Dont forget on angle blades when you adjust attack angle when the blade is angled to the side, you may need to touch up the vertical right side crank adjuster also to make each side of the blade to contact the ground at the same time. Here is where your rear 3pt control really comes in handy to raise and lower repeatedly to check.

Obviously you do these check on as perfectly level ground as you can find. I have a level spot in my driveway where I set up implements. Good luck!

@ruffdog,

Thanks for the interesting article. Given the significant changes that Bobcat has made over the intervening years the company appears to be once again very healthy.

The retail experience at the Bobcat distributor/dealer I use in Syracuse has been consistently first class. Exemplary customer service and support.

The local dealer is really good to the neighbor and he has a 743 skid steer. They will copy parts out the service manual and parts manual to help us work on it. We just repaired the brakes and fixed the creeping problem this week.

I would have to disagree. Adjust the rear wheel to get your running angle to leave some slop in the upper link. If you have no slop in your upper link, your cutter will be bouncing off the ground every time your tractor hits a bump.

k0ua,
Thank you for all the information. I'm sure it'll take a while to get that ballast box shipped in, so I'll have time to print off your instructions and read it several times.
I'm still reviewing the manual again and again, just to get the terminology right.
Thanks again.
Jeff

Then why did you even look at a machine that is too big for all your implements and no resale value??? Who knows what's going to happen in all tractor sales anymore. Heck the dollar could be worthless ten years from now.

Now that IS one reason for me to consider a new cut or scut on payments... if HYPER inflation takes place it will almost pay me to make the small payments on a new tractor to add to my older other two...

Wonder if the wife will buy it.....????:laughing:

I've seen some of his videos. I think they are pretty well done. Helped me out, that's for sure.

I had only seen one of those you attached. I guess he's a Missouri guy. (Or are you Mike?)

Thanks,
Jeff

I don't know where he's from, I think James k0ua posted them some time ago, so I bookmarked them.

I have an even better method of changing implements, I tell one of my sons what I need to use and as if by magic, the next day it's there.
