But I'll admit it. If I had one, I'd be out there with my can of wax and be taking lots of pictures of my shiny new "toy.":D

Even with this economy I think this tractor will do well. So many people have fond memories of the old 8n and would love to own this new version just because of that. I am only 30 but would love to own this new 8n because I have always found Fords history to be interesting. But I will admit I would be very hesitant to treat this tractor like I do my 1920 or TN. If all I had to do was mow open fields with it or work open fields I wouldn't care but working around brush, orchards and vineyards I know it is going to get scratched up and beat up so it won't work well for me.

The chrome rops, rear worklight, diamond plated decking and a bunch of other features are all options. They even have chrome hub caps as an option as well as hood decals.

This tractor with loader and backhoe sure does remind me of the old Fords with their big loader frames and backhoes. It is amazing what paint can do.

Rob, I think you have to compare the NH price with a comparable 50 hp JD with IVT to see just how marketable the Boomer 8N will be. Also, when you compare a new gear-drive Boomer cut to an old 8N, the new Boomer looks like a waxed Sunday-driver by comparison. The cost of the 8N was around $1000 new as I remember. Any tractor today looks like gold by comparison. Times change, and so do price conceptions. I think many of the shiny chrome components of the Boomer 8N, like a chrome ROPs, will be optional. If you look at the basic tractor without options, it is just a very nice red-belly with that medium-gray painted hood and fenders so many people love. The seat looks radical, but having all those vent holes could really be nice after about 4 hours in the Texas sun.

But I'll admit it. If I had one, I'd be out there with my can of wax and be taking lots of pictures of my shiny new "toy.":D

You're correct about doing the comparables.
For example, a 50hp Nortrac 2WD (i.e. a Jinma) goes for $20K. The Boomer 8N has 4WD, the CVT and the classic 8N package which, IMHO, are worth $10K.

wow, are you serious?? I paid $19,500 for my 56hp Deere, MFWD and has a shuttle transmission. from what i can remember, you paid a good bit less then that for your Mahindra AND you got a front end loader as well.

i would like to try a CVT transmission out one time to see what its like.

OK, Here's a question....

How many out there are definitely going to buy one of the 8N's as soon as they are available???

I really like my 1951 8n which is the first tractor I ever bought and I still consider the n's as the best tractors of all time in many regards. This certainly would factor into my decision when buying a new tractor, and I would award the retro styling a bonus of around $500 for a tractor of that size. That means if the competition offered the same performance for $501 less, I would still buy the competition, as I did a few years ago with a JD 4000 -20 series and from the looks of those prices, I would "go green" again today. Still, I liked the grey Fords a lot better than the blue ones. They never quite kept up after the passing of Henry. If they brought the "Ford" name back and ditched the "NH" I might go as high as $550. If they made the whole deal in the USA, with the Ford name, I would go all the way to $2000 or so but I just dont think that is going to happen.

Fiat wanted the Ford name when they bought Fords tractor division but Ford wouldn't allow anyone else to use their name so they sold them the New Holland name along with the tractor division and Fiat was able to use the Ford name during the transition but each year the Ford name had to get smaller till it was no longer on the tractor. I don't blame Ford for protecting its name though. If Fiat ran the tractor company into the ground or put out a lot of junk with Fords name on it then Fords auto division would take a hit as a result. I can't ever see a situation arrising where CNH would ever get permission to use the Ford name on a current model tractor.

I will not. If they put the brake pedals on the left where they belong, I might consider it, but certainly not on the first model. That's because my current TC45D meets all my needs perfectly, and I need a dozer much worse than another tractor.:)

Do you think your current loader would work on the new 8N? That would look cute and save you money from having to buy a new loader:D
