I'm in the wrong trade... bathroom remodel...

/ I'm in the wrong trade... bathroom remodel... #101
I got a quote from Wickes for £12k including materials and labour (London-based). We renovated our kitchen for £15k about 10 years ago, so, surprisingly, a bathroom half the size would cost nearly the same. DIY isn’t really an option since our bathroom needs quite a bit of work—uneven floorboards under the vinyl, leak repairs, prep work, and so on. Would it make sense to approach a local builder to see if I can get a cheaper quote? Ideally, I’d like to stay in the £5–8k range. The main advantage of going with Wickes is their 0% interest offer for 3 years, which is tempting.
Savings can be had doing the demo work and prep as well as purchasing or at least having the fixtures decided prior to the bid.

Individual homeowners are often quite time consuming so I have found.
