Tractor Sizing I'm looking to buy a tractor to use primarily as an offroad forklift.

Orchard and Vineyard tractors are not available with Loaders. Their metier is stability and high flow hydraulic pump systems to power very powerful sprayers.

Orchard and vineyard tractors are often fitted with a 3 pt forklift mast to carry the totes full of fruit from the trees to the trucks.

Another consideration - how high are you going to be lifting that 2500# load. FEL capacities decrease rapidly with height.

Suggestion - buy an off-road fork lift or tele-handler.

You壇 be way better off with a real off road forklift. It would take a pretty good size tractor to handle 2500 pounds. Like the biggest of the L series might but that痴 MX territory.

MX with just forks might lift 2,500 if you could keep the weight against the pins but I wouldn't want to drive it anywhere with a load like that, especially off road.

The other option depending on how high it needs to be lifted but a 3pt set of forks will have a lot more capacity with a lot more safety in a smaller machine. Still gonna need a good size machine though.

If the main use is as a forklift you need a forklift,
it forks are a secondary consideration but a major issue get a 3 point fork.

Hey guys. I've been wanting to buy a tractor and put a fork attachment on the front of it. I went to the kubota dealer and the sales guy basically all his tractors he had on the lot would only lift 1000 pounds max. I think his were all the 2000 series tractors. So what size tractor do I need to be able to lift 2500 pounds with a fork lift attachment? I'm not looking for a brand new tractor since they have the tier 4 emissions junk on them, but I am a fan of kubota. Maybe even an old ford tractor, it could be 20-25 years old for all I care just as long as it's in good shape.

Offroad forklifts are expensive even used.

WHAT are you looking to lift? How high? How often? Do you need to shift things in the same area, or do you need to carry them some distance? If so, over what kind of ground?

WHY?
It would help if you told us your applications.
For example I needed a machine I could take into the woods, brush cut, and lift a 1 ton log onto my sawmill. I got my M4700. If I had needed JUST to lift a 1 ton log I would have gotten a forklift.

Also be aware that older Kubota's are more lightly built compared to other brands in the same hp range.
