MF 1736e
But I don't know the answer.

The back of my tractor has 3 connections, Pressure, Power Beyond, and Return. The backhoe connects to the Pressure and Return with nothing connected to the PB.

If I take the backhoe off, the instructions say to connect the Pressure to the Power Beyond port. I have a small hose that does just that. My question is, why wouldn't it be Pressure to the Return, just as the backhoe is connected? Instructions says to "complete the circuit" but why wouldn't pressure to the return do that?

Thanks

Don't know why your backhoe doesn't have a pressure beyond line; is it a factory backhoe? My guess is that while you have the backhoe hooked up with only two hoses that your 3-point lift inoperable because that is (probably) where the pressure beyond should be routed to. Of course, it is unlikely that you would be using the 3-point while the backhoe is on anyway ...

I don't know how your MF 1736e is plumbed, but for a discussion on how the hydraulics work on its junior cousins (the Massey Ferguson GC ones) see: How Massey Ferguson GC 1723 & 1725 hydraulics are plumbed

Power beyond supplies oil to the 3 point hitch.

Most back hoe valves do not have the power beyond feature so you want the return going directly to tank.

So the 3 point hitch has it's own return? With the backhoe on, there is no oil to the 3 point? If so, I think I have the flow figured out in my head. This is a snap of what caused my confusion.

Correct with backhoe mounted you do not have flow to the 3 point.
