That is what my wife said last night.....If you get done and stop using it just sell it and you did not have to throw money away on a rental. Some days I just love having a smart wife. :D Other days....

I am waiting for the final quote and we will see what the price it. I own a trailer, so picking it up would be easy. Would probably go in my truck just fine as long as they can lift it up a little. Dodge 3500 4x4 with 6 inch lift.

I am thinking the grapple is back on the table. I will be getting the third function because I am not excited about the amount of hose needed for the rear remotes.

Just got back total price shipped for the 48"......$1,297.00.

That is much better. :D

That puts it right at the same price as WR Long. Figures!

I did not realize you could get a WRLong light duty clamshell for that price. I thought they were at least another few hundred bucks plus shipping even for the small ones. Maybe they have dropped their price to compete with Millonzi.

While I have and like the Millonzi, I have always admired the clamshell design from WR Long too. I've not used one of theirs but for some applications such as cleaning up scattered smallish debris from a construction site, I would imagine they would be more efficient. They have cross ways tines instead of vertical tines on the bottom so they may not be quite as efficient at root grappling but they may be more efficient at picking up small sticks etc.

What about a CDI 6' full grapple? Local dealer has one for $2,800.00

What do you gain by spending twice as much other than reduced lift capacity? Six foot grapples may make sense for construction site clean up on a big skid steer but I don't see why anyone would put one on a tractor. 48 or 60 inches is fine. No need to consider a grapple the same width as a standard bucket anymore than you would buy a bush hog the same width as a finish mower or a rake the same size as a box blade or tiller. Having too large a grapple can actually decrease your productivity as you cannot as easily concentrate the force of your loader and, as mentioned, you definitely decrease your net lift capacity. Six foot grapples are generally built and sized with heavier steel and typically weigh 600-800lbs which is a pretty big difference from 300lbs to 400lbs for a light duty 48 or 60. While one might worry about damaging a "light duty grapple", the only grapple I've heard of being damaged on TBN was a very expensive Anbo. To my knowledge, other than cosmetic damage, no one has destroyed or seriously injured one of the lightest weight grapples on the market, the Millonzi LD48.....so why bother getting anything more expensive or heavy?

I have to agree with IslandTractor on the CDI. The equipment we are attaching these things to just is not big enough to use that much of a grapple. Was there something that makes you think the extra weight and extra $1250.00 would make this worth looking into? What am I missing?

Oh yea, I said "we" above because I ordered a Millonzi LD60. I went with the 60 because its only 97lbs more than the LD48 and the lift capacity of my loader will leave me with 1800 - 2000 lbs. (depending on what specs you use) once installed.

I hear you guys. I talked myself out of that grapple pretty fast. I am just too cheap. :p

Only reason I considered it was the dealer has it sitting on his lot. All the others will take 3-4 weeks to make it to my door.

Since then I have found this one at a Kubota dealer only 15 miles from my house.
x-treme Root Grapple

Price is $1,750.00. for the 63"

Island tractor is very knowledgable about grapples. I've not regretted buying the 48 millonzi on his advice. It was a LOT cheaper a year or so ago, though! Something like $700 plus shipping. Rising steel costs are painful.

A note on the millonzi - the hoses come exposed. The first thing one should do is put shielding over them. Grapples are made to be abused.

The second thing is to buy quick disconnects that fit your machine - logically enough it doesn't come with them, but that surprised me. I couldn't play, I mean use it for 3 days

I think a 5040 could carry either a 60" or a 48". I'm not familiar enough with the 60" to give a concrete estimate as to whether its worth it. When I get my new 4740 I certainly won't be switching.

I trust you have a quick attach mount on the kubota btw? Thats essential, especially on that size tractor.

I use my rear remote for the grapple, with hoses run forward. Its not an issue at all, I'd have no hesitation doing it that way.

The extreme looks nice, btw, but I'm not familiar with it

$700.00 would be great. LOL

Yes the Kubota comes with a quick attach.

My lift is 2500 pounds so I think I can handle the grapple without losing too much. I would be okay with a 48 inch if someone had one sitting around ready to go, but since they don't the 63" will work. I am not doing any major work anyway. Just lots of brush cleanup.

I was reading the specs on the Extream CDI and it said the two top arms operate independently. I assume that means you need a remote for each one. Is that wrong?
