In a Pickle CK20hst or Bota B7610

Actually, Bob, you are somewhat right. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif The CK20 is about 300 lbs. heavier - heavier than the C/NH TC-DX series.

Another thing of note about the B7610, is the 7610 has a 1/4" valve on the 3PH. The CK20 has position control, so if you need a more precise 3PH, moving in 1/4" increments may not be it.

I like the CK25. It is a nice machine. I like the other CK's, too. One thing I wish Kioti would have done differently is put the 25hp engine in the CK20 size machine. They would have a real stellar machine there. Then, maybe, for the mid-chassis they could add a 35hp for the CK. Don't mind me, I'm just rambling. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yup, but don't say that too loudly, because I've been chastised for saying that same thing. Even a couple Kioti owners have gotten a bruising for suggesting that. But for as long as they put a little 25hp in a large tractor I will point out the shortcomings of the machine as it compares to other similarly powered tractors or to more powerful tractors in the same size frame. And I suppose I'll take a beating each time. But then sometimes the truth hurts.

Actually, Bob, you are somewhat right As for me being "somewhat right" thanks, but the reality is I was simply wrong. I was wrong about the weight because I did confuse it with the TC/DX series, but wrong is wrong. Never the less, even being wrong about the exact weight differential, both the B7610 and the CK20 are limited to effective use of a 48" box blade and nothing more, and that was really the issue where weight might have proved advantageous.

You are so funny Bob.

There are a slew of other tractors that could also work for this. If you don't need the height, NH will have a TZ26 in a few weeks that will be even less $$ than what your looking at now. It will give you the PTO HP, but will be lighter... you can always add weight though, and given that your running on lawns and stuff it might be advantageous to be able to add/remove it depending on the application.

Putting a Rotadairon on a subcompact (TZ26) looks like it could be a 'tail wagging the dog' situation. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The RotaDairon is a small 36" model that uses between 16 and 25 PTO HP. The reasoning behind wanting to stay small was to use it in smaller yards and such. Bigger tractors can't get into those places well.

Don, actually for a unit as small as he is looking at, I'd have to agree with Niel Messick on the fact that maybe a smaller lighter tractor with higher PTO hp might be the better choice. There certainly are a large number of tractors that can handle a PHD, a 48" box blade and still have roughly 20 PTO hp to easily handle a 36" Rota Darion without any fear that the "tail would be wagging the dog" and Niel's point about using a light tractor on the lawn also might make a lot of sence. I had not considered any machine as light or as small as a SUB-CUT, but certainly one of those might fit the bill very nicely. I limited my conversation to the 2 tractors that were in the original post but if he is open to suggestions . . .

You know, as Im reading these Im thinking to myself, "man, I really need to re-read the question!" I skipped the whole PTO part. Im with Bob about what the manufacturer says about the mower. Aside from hooking it up to the tractor and using it before you buy, I dont know how else to tell. I dont use my bush-hog on my CK20 at all right now... So I cant add if Im happy with it or not... I can say it turns my 48" roto-tiller at the deepest settings without any complaints though... Which to be honest with you surprised me. Many will argue tiller work is much tougher, but I think that really depends where you live (soil). Eh, take the gloves off and negotiate hard for the CK30! See what happens, it cant hurt to ask! John, Im working on it I promise! I dont know if I posted this one before, but heres one.

TOTALLY OFF TOPIC . . . Ted, in your picture that CK20 is surrounded by mud, but the tractor looks sparkling clean. How did you do that!?!

( I looked at the LK series but they really do not have a creeper gear, min speed is like 1.07 mph and I need to go as slow as .5 mph so the HSt is much better suited.)

For sure go with HST. I run a 56" FirstChoice tiller and have wished for a lower speeds on my LK3054, but it does work ok.

I know that if your doing custom work in yards a small size is required. Around here most yards are fenced in fairly tight. Thats even another case for getting HST, quicker positioning.

Heres another one. You can see dirt this time! Theres no mud on the platform, because the only time I got off was to take some photos!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Some spots were over my knees in this yard, I had to be careful. I dug the trench to put a drainage pipe in for this house---badly needed.
