In reality, MOST old parked cars and trucks will never run again and will not be used for parts. So, why not just get rid of them sooner rather than later? If they were really worth anything (beyond scrap) they probably would have been sold.

But they hear about car auctions with old cars selling for $1,000,000+ so they are saving their old cars waiting for that kind of offer.

I live in a rural area with mostly farm ground in the area. The biggest town is 20,000 people and is the only town with zoning. In my opinion it’s better. Yes government can over reach but things can get pretty bad without it.

In one nearby small town, I was working near this house for several hours doing land survey work. They had about 6 dogs barking at me all day. I’m not sure but I think the house was being used as a dog kennel. If people were living in it it must have been really bad, trash in the yard, junk cars etc. It burned down a few weeks latter, it didn’t look any worse than. Some kind of basic rules and regs keeps this from happening.

I understand the reasoning behind laws like this, and how they get put in place. Often by well-intentioned people who are trying to clean up and 'zone-out' the worst offenders. However, there are some automotive enthusiasts like myself who get caught in the middle... I'm lucky enough to live where the only way it will become an issue is of my local mayor (my wife) puts such a ban on old trucks, but d@mn it, it's my farm too, right? *grin* I would have a superduty junkyard if I could get away with it, but with an actual effort in buy/sell/ salvage/etc.

Unfortunately the city dwellers caught in this issue often don't have the means to just up and move to an unregulated area, and they simply have to sell/scrap their 'diamonds in the rough'.

In my town you can only have 1 unregistered car visible from the road ,They don't want the junk yard look, If you can't see them your ok with more. I don't think they enforce the law unless somebody complains to the town

My next door neighbor has a Chevy 2 that I never knew anything about until he showed me. He put alot of effort into making sure nobody saw it. Behind his shop under an awning. Its wait for him to retire and restore it.

Some folks a few places over have a couple heaps of crap in their back yard that animals live in.

None bother me, because they aren't in the street or in the front yard.

Looking back at the ops post, it doesn't look too unreasonable.
They are trying to stop commercial repairs in residential areas.

Most people know they need to clean up their junk......just choose not to!

Takes up too much time and energy!

To often these vehicles double as dumpsters. As a landlord I once had to force a tenant to remove an old Olds Toranado <sic> that they had stuffed full of garbage bags full of who knows what. Same thing a few years back with a neighbor and an old Cadillac (why do they go for the luxury models? ;)) when I lived in town. Two or three (one may have very recently been removed) Ford window vans fill a driveway on my route to work. They are filled to the top with trash.

In the 1st two instances I know for a fact the vehicles were a breeding ground for vermin. That is s a public nuisance regardless of who's property it is on.

Because their Jag is in the shop! DUH!!!
