Well .... I was impressed ... this good ole boy who all the dumbocrats have been deriding as inarticulate and just plain stupid ... did a remarkable job and gave a remarkable address. If he fulfills 1/10 of the promises ... I predict this country is going to become moral and healthy again. Looks to me like he's a joiner instead of a divider like we've had to become used to.
GREAT way to start a new century!

I agree wingnut. I sure wasn't looking at 4 more years of the same fighting and partisan we've had the last 8. Really would be a nice change to get along for awhile. While I'm not a big fan of Bush I am a Republican and think he's doing the right thing surrounding himself with a diverse group of people. Hopefully we'll be able to concentrate on the country now and not the lives and morality of the men running it.

Thank God!

Now we can have dignity & decency restored and a real role model for our children and citizens to emulate.

I think the political lip service will stop and the actions & needed work will begin...

Guys,
Iagree that we heard a very well-written speech, and Bush delivered it well.

But I think it's always wise to keep the salt-shaker handy when around ANY politicians...as more than a few grains should be taken when swallowing any of their offererings.
I heard a discussion (among news-anchor types) as to how the "speech-writers" took George's description of the "feel" he wanted the speech to have, and "silver-tongued" it into what we heard.

Delivery? I'd give him a B+.
Creative/effective phrasing or writing?...Who knows?!
Sincerity vs. salesmanship?....I'm hoping (with fingers crossed/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif!

Best part was watching Bill and the man-hating beast of a #$%#^ get in their car and leave. Ditto Al and wife. Just wish Cheney would have kicked him in the arse at the bottom step.

Amazing how the media totally ignored Willy's admission of perjury and all the criminals he pardoned on his last day, yet found time to make numerous references to Bush's perceived lack of intelligence (we'll see). Hopefully integrity will return. At any rate, just give me my tax cut--big and now!!

Can't you just imagine what a great joke Clinton and Jackson both thought it was for Jackson to be Clinton's "spiritual" advisor? I'll bet they really had a hard time trying not to giggle in front of news camera./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

It should be an interesting next four years, but I don't believe much will be accomplish in those four years do to the stone walling from both sides.
Mr.Bush will need a second term and halt these give away programs here and a broad.

Still think John McCain would have been good for the job. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'm with you Thomas,

I couldn't believe that McCain wasn't chosen over Bush.

I sure hope he doesn't give up on his campaign-finance reform ideas.
It's a topic that requires a heroic effort to "swim against the tide".
He certainly has my respect, appreciation, and support!

... and do you think that McCain will amend his legislation to also reform caimpaign funds derived from the unions? Or is the campaign just against conservative fund raising?
This is definitely the wrong forum to keep all these partisan "discussions" alive ... but I, for one, wonder how McCain can call himseld a Republican.
