I hope to be purchasing a FEL soon. I will also install aux. rear hyd. when I get time. I own a 1500D which has a screen vs. a hydraulic filter and was wandering... would it be prudent to cut the suction line and install a hydraulic filter (I would be hooking up rear attachments, couplers would be subject to dirt - more apt to enter hyd. system, etc.). Or is the OEM screen sufficient and should I not worry about it?

There's a couple of ways you could do this. There will be a return line coming off the rear control valve. You could splice the filter into this line. Now all the oil that is coming off the rear disconnect will be filter before entering the tractor. You could also install a filter between the return line splice and the pump. Now all the oil to the pump is being filtered. If you do put a filter in the suction line, be sure you use one that can take the negative pressure. Most filters are designed for positive pressure.
