installing drainage pipe

I get to do this very soon to. :/ My slab is collecting mud. my problem is the driveway is about 6" above the house's grade. i have about 100 ' worth of trenching to do right near the edge of the driveway I also get to dodge the telephone line the worst part of it is the place as 0 gutter and lots of snow in the winter. when it melts its gona get ugly for me :/

I found when laying 4" drain pipe on a slope if I leave the gravel exposed at the surface it will drain all surface water into the pipe. If I cover it with some soil and plant grass it is only about 1/2 as effective.
