Sadly, that will have to wait until I purchase my retirement property. However, our crew at work is off 17 days at Christmas and New Year's. What will I do?

Thanks Brandi, it will be when its done. At 52 its not as easy as it once was. BVuying this little Yanmar will help out a lot hopefully. This spring the shop gets another 500 sq ft on the right side and a mid room in front of that shed side with the windows which I am now building my rock hearth in. It will be semi livable if need be. Right across from the shop the barn goes in and down where the trailer is, one day a barn style home to match the shop. The shop will be covered in cedar. I used what I had. I am adding a passive solar greenhouse this spring and our garden. We are having a blast. Lots to do. Thanks for the heads up.

Not totally sure about wild ducks, but we put out scratch grain for our pet ducks. Actually, they bum-rush us periodically until we put more out. Sorry about the picture quality of both of these, but one is my daughter feeding the ducks. They ran up the hill from the pond when we pulled this day after school/work. My daughter went right to feeding them. The other is after some of my rye grass is coming up that we planted at the same time. In the spring I plan to smooth some more and sod a pallet or two at a time including down below the water line since it varies up to 3' or so based on this last year worth of experience.

Thanks for sharing the photos Tractorshopper. You might want to think about adding an "L" shaped levee or dike to the end of you dam at the overflow end. Then, there would not be any chance of a strong overflow cutting into the back side of the dam.

I was reading Phil Robertson's (Duck Dynasty) article in GQ here Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Gives Drew Magary a Tour
and he stated they plant Pennsylvania smartweed. He said the seed is what ducks love to eat. Have any of Y'all heard of this Pennsylvania smartweed?

Yes, he got put on hiatus indefinitely for what he said in the article I linked to above. There is a huge facebook following (over 500,000) demanding Phil be put back on the show and will boycott A&E network until he is back on the show. I honestly hope the family goes with him and stick to their Christian principles. I love the show, but with 14 million viewers that would be a big chunk of change lost by A&E.

Well, I have been seeing life after dredging. A few weeks ago I was surprised to see a lone Mallard drake on the water. Never got close enough for a photo. Today a crane was snoping around. Booger and I went out twice and chased it away. I need to start transfering Mosquito fish, as I am see a lot of mosquito larvae on the water surface.
