When I bought my tractor and went to finance it the cost for insurance was $27 a month for 72 months.
I checked around and found most company's don't insure tractors my home insurance would not cover it so I just paid cash and have no insurance on the tractor.

Other than fire what can happen to total a tractor.

When we bought our place 28 years ago, the Insurance agent told us that we needed farm insurance instead of homeowners insurance. Of course we had livestock and farm buildings along with tractors and equipment. I don't know how it works if you live in a subdivision.

I use Farm Bureau on my new Kubota and costs me $170 a year.

Auto Owners wrote mine for $39.53 per year on my Yanmar 424, and $32.12 per year on my little Kubota excavator. They show both as "garden tractor class".

My BX is also listed as a garden tractor... all the agent needed to verify was HP and that I mow with it.

I have State Farm. The home policy covers a certain amount of equipment used to maintain the property. When my 5105 burned, it was part of that policy. Just talk to your agent with a rough value of what all of your equipment is worth. It doesn't cover anything off of my property though.

For my 5055E, I have a personal articles policy that is pretty reasonable. It also covers it off of the property, which I requested. It won't cover for commercial work, but if I'm brush hogging for my neighbor or helping them move something, it's covered.

It could also be stolen.

Vermont Mutual covers my tractor as part of coverage.
It’s not for hire and only used on my personal property.
That said the first agent at my former agency said no. I bitched and read him the policy line. He stuck his feet in the mud and wouldn’t budge.
Called my agent here in Maine and had no issues. She double checked with the underwriter and ‘yup’ it’s covered.
