Interesting project. I like that you are using logs from you place. Makes it that much cooler!!!!!

When you say it's a wood shed, does that mean for storing firewood?

Keep up the post and pics, I'm enjoying following along.

Eddie

It's a wood shed... not metal, just wood :) The old fashioned way of building too. My dad built one when I was a pup 10-12 years old and it's still right behind my mom's home and hasn't been painted in at least 2 decades and no repairs ever that I am aware.

I'll use it as a shop and storage for my Bota and implements of distruction etc., Oh, a special shelf for the wifey too.

Do you have any opinion or did you receive any advise on suspended copper solutions for use on wood exposed to ground contact? One brand name is "copper brown" sold at Lowes.

huh? I have a bucket of Blackjack for foundations I got at Lowes. It's a sealer for block and works on wood too. I'm not sure on this bucket, but most this stuff is great as termite/bug treatment too.

I started putting on stringers today. Whew, same size square poles do have advantages, but being frugal (in my case broke) using my home grown posts. ah, cost effective!

The bottom stringer is treated 2x6, since it makes ground contact in most the places. I need to get a load of dirt to fill in low spots, and then I'll put limestone down on the floor.

I've got one band finished in the middle and just started the second and these are by golly 2x4s I had milled, and by golly lift one of those oak 16 footers and you know you have a board!

The work is gettin' the stringers plum with each other cause the poles ain't symmetrical, a 50 cent work by my account, in any way, shape or form. Going from the treated 2x6 up 4' to an actually 2x4 by golly the posts need notched so the stringers are plum. Another great reason to have a sawzall in the armory! Oh I'm Bo, so of coures I have one older than dirt wood blade and a pile of bi-metal blades, but the wood blade got me thru the day and it's off to Lowes tomorrow.

I must stay I'm very happy on how the shed is coming together and sometime over the next few days I'm hauling in my older than dirt scaffolding to use as my work platform.

Here's the latest pics but it was getting dark so here goes. You'll see a white 2x4 on one pic that is just to make the corner work.

Make sure you don't put that too far off the floor.....you don't want her to get hurt if she happens to roll off after dozing off. ;)

Eddie, that's a lot of rain! We've been fortunate to have had great weather this year. Some rain about every week and yards and gardens did really well, except my garden (no enough morning sun, but for a new yard we've been pretty happy.

September is the best darn month to live in KY. Warm to hot days, and cool evening and nights, and the occasional cool day too.

I may get a chance to work this evening, but the 4 year is really pushing for her butterfly ceiling fan to be installed, otherwise it'll be Monday when I can work some more.

I'm excited about what I have done, and now I'll be working a bit higher I have hauled my older than a few folks on TractorByNet scaffolding to work from (it sure beats ladders!).

Still trying to figure out if I have enough material to do the saltbox roof.... I may bite the bullet and go ahead and do it this way and buy anything additional I need, money is tight in real estate these days but there's a few things set to close pretty soon.

I have one pole that's a bit farther out of line than I thought. That darn PHD I guess wobbled, and I have to reset that post to give me straight sides, not bad considering it's tree posts and me!! At least it's a simple fix.

All the bottom and middle stringers are on now. The pole outta place is now in place. I just finished the top 2X6 stringer, and let me tell you the 8' section was a breeze, but that 16' was a bear, a grizzley bear with a bad attitude type bear too!! Whew, I did, and I did it all by myself...thank goodness for ropes and trap straps!

Pics a coming, it was plum dark when I was picking up tools.

I ran the stringers on the most eastern side, and started on the western side and boy, I love that old scaffolding (except when I drop something!). It's great not to have to work off of ladders and a lot safer to with a wider work platform.

I'm about ready to cut off the top of the poles and my beloved 3516 Poulan that I bragged on blewup (first the truck now this!) but luckily it's under the 2 year warranty and I'm hoping they fix/replace it for me. If I gotta get another it'll be a while and it'll be a Sthil or Husky....and that means $100 more that the $139 Poulan.

I'll get more pics when I get all the stringers up and it's raining for a couple days and then who knows my schedule next week.

The mighty B7500 is handy tuggin', pullin', liftin', totin' and gettin' the makin' of it's brand new home... It's so excited about living indoors at night.
