I had one of the Poulan chain saws. I liked it,but it didn't last very long. I replaced it with another, but that one died after just a couple days. I had it in my head that since I use a chain saw so rarely,I didn't need to spend top dollar to get the best. Of course, I spent more on crappy chainsaws when you add them all up before bugy Stihl. I also had a Husqavarna, but didn't care for it either. It lasted about three years of very little use, then it lost all compression. My Stihl Farmboss always starts and it gets the job done when I need it. Funny thing about chainsaws, they are a royal pain, but when you need it, you really need it!!!!

Still hanging stringers, one at a time all by myself and & Kabota...they are still heavy!

Lights. Gonna put in I'm thinking a 100 amp service (lights/compressor and a line for my RV to keep it's battery charged up), I could go 200 if I can justify the extra costs of the panel.

Lights. Gonna have a few lights in the shed, nothing major but want a good work light to shine in front of the shed. Are halogen work lights low energy? Now, we ain't the greenest folks but we do try. All the bulbs in the house are those twisty florecent things...so, we try when we can. Or should I just use the standard old flood lights?

100 amp is plenty. No water heater, no HVAC system. Just some tools and lights.

Only thing to be cautious about with lights are the flourecent ones. They don't like cold and will give you issues unless you pay top dollar for some really good ballasts.

NO!

You'll never need 100 amps....unless you use all halogen lamps...LOL Remember your equipment grounding conductor and isolated Neutral. also the ground rod for the separate structure.

Thanks.... Guess I'll go with the "rough useage" bulbs for the shed and a couple flood lamps for the evenings I need them.

I didn't figure I'd need more than 100 amp service.

Ya'll the best!

Whew another few hours, another few boards. I finally have all the stringers up, and those 2x6X16 are more than a fella oughta handle by himself. The little Bota can't lift very well when I'm 14' away on scaffold...but they are now hung on the poles with care in hope that St. Nick will...opps.

Got the top plate on the back of the shed all screwed down. The 2x4 rafters will mount on that 4" wide board. A good solid support on the top of those by golly 2X6s. I'd just started the front when it started getting dark. Maybe Friday I'll start on the rafters.

Oh, the chainsaw blewup according to one shop, the other says the carb went out. I hate spending $70 on a $139 chainsaw! The old sawzall has become a workhorse of late until I can come up with a chainsaw...I need one all the time but need a small one bad for about an hour to trim a couple of poles. What takes 1 minute with a chainsaw takes about 10 with a sawzall.

Pretty dang sure I'll be going with a saltbox style roof, maybe not exactly to the traditional style but it'll look pretty good...I think!

Folks, I must be doing something right...slow, but right. Nearly read to get to the rafters. So today I was piddling around I hung about 36" of the board siding, just to show the boss of the house how it was gonna be looking. Then went onto the ain't sure what it's called the \ / braces (cross members?) from the poles to the top plate where the rafters sit. So, here comes the CEO of the family being towed by Tinker Bell the dog and excorted by Garfield & Odie the cats (mama Cat was aleady standing guard next to in the event a ground squirrel was in the area ready to attack me)....
The words were muttered... This is gonna look real good... Ah, I looked around I knew she was talking about something else...but it was only me and the shed to be!! By Golly I gotta be doing something right!

The CEO and young'n walks over and brags on me, but questions on where my chop saw came from...that's 2 years old dear.... really.

So, she comments on the property and now she wants a horse and couple of goats and wouldn't you know it right beside the shed is a perfect place to add a couple of stalls....
I guess it's fence this fall too.
