Is a 110, L39, or L48 enough tractor?

The JCB is a Bentley. Enough Fantasy already! Can we keep the discussion in the $30-50K for a new or "almost new machine?

JCB 212, NH 75, etc., drool is running down my chin like some rabid dog.

I was really pissed off to see in the Machinery Trader that on 3/16/06 a 2005 IR 575 went at auction for $23,000 with a bit over 100 hrs in Denver? Was it damaged? That's 1/2 price!

Questions?
1. Can you place a bid on a machine in an upcoming auction without being there?

2. If you can bid, how do you go about it and what is cost to bid?

PS the JCB you buy was most likey made in Savannah Ga.

Also, how do those RV's get away with it?

Try eBay

Tractor deals like that on E-bay are hard to find, but still worth a look. I would not buy anything that was not a stupid bargain as I have and will keep the L39

Cost of used tractors is what made me spring for a new L39. It's not new anymore, but unlike a car a few minor scratches does not bring its value down.

you might want to check ironplanet as well. i have heard of some very low hour machines going for that kind of price. i am talking about the I-R/Bobcats. i was able to get mine with a few more hours, a few attachments and a trailer for less than the price of the one that made you mad. they are out there. i got mine through ebay by the way.
good luck

The JD110 uses a Yanmar engine.... seems the only reason one wouldn't just go all Yanmar is the JD logo.

A better dealer network might be another reason.

One of the lessons I learned long ago is that a popular brand with good dealer support is going to be more useful, and have better resale value, than one where parts are "available" but it might take a long time to get them.

CurlyDave.....I ask you a this ? in another post so please disregard the duplicate but hopefully I'll catch you here......what do you pull your 110 with? Do you have your Class A CDL or did you find a trailer that will keep you under 10k on the trailer? Thanks in advance for your imput. Regards, Tom.

Thanks for the Tip on Iron Planet. their reports on machine condition with oil analysis is excellent.

Up here in NH construction machines get beat up fast. In parts of the country that are not made of granite boulders and Ledge, or rock hard clay, the machines have an easy life and are less $ and in better shape than New England /NE machines.

Notice you never see many equipment ad's showing the machines struggling in New Hampshire "Soil" conditions!

A small +15,000lb excavator with front blade in good shape would be a real help in my project. I don't want a mini excavator, as other than tracks, and being a faster purpose built digger, it wont tackle any more than the Hoe on my L39.

So if anyone stumbles across a really sweet deal they wish they could swing but can't, please drop me a line.

I can be very patient waiting for that unusual deal that allows me to purchase a machine I can use for a year or two then sell for what I have in to it. Doing this is still a gamble. That is why I would want a newer machine that will still hold its value and have less chance of hidden major problems.

Much of the stumping was done by excavator, but around the future house site & septic area, I did this carage with the L39. The lighter colored newer stumps came out in an afternoon's work.

Unless you want to sell it when you're done, you don't want to get something too big because it won't be very useful when the heavy stuff is done.

I'd go L39 /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It's smaller/lighter and has nearly the same capabilities as the 110 and L48. You can easily perform the tasks you mention with the L39. I've done an amazing amount of excavating and rock moving with mine. Yeah, the big machines are the way to go for a swimming pool, but a simple pad and road are perfect for the L39. You could dig an average size pad and side "footings" in one day without a problem. Digging isn't the issue I've found, it's what to do with all the dirt afterward /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Try to make a plan to get rid of it while your work is in progress. The loader is pretty high lift and can fill a smaller size dump easily. I can almost reach a full size 14 yard dump. With a ramp it would be possible.

I like the overall build quality of the Kubota.

Search for 110 / L48 / L39 comparisons....there's been lots of discussion on this topic in the past.
