curtisfarmer,

Your contribution of 2 has really sped up the L48's to almost the front of the pack.

CHDinCT,

You're the first BX to stand up and be counted. Glad you replied to this thread.

I too am sort of surprised about the rather quiet nature of the other BX owners. Would love to hear from your all.

I have a B26 and it gets used semi commercially, I have factory thumb best option, 4n1 bucket 2nd best, grapple pallet forks and snow blade for the front along with the regular 3pt stuff and it does it all well and is easy to haul and move around in tight spaces. I constantly surprise people when it out works larger old machines.

If I had to do it over I would by another one. And when I need a big machine I just rent one.

I guess I should do my part to keep the L45 in the lead. I've had it for about a year and a half. I upgraded from a L3130 with a BH90. I couldn't be happier. I thought about the M59 but it was already hard enough getting around my wife's obstacle course of trees and stuff.

powerstroke444e,

You have filled out the last category that doesn't fall under the BX banner.

Welcome aboard with your B26.

Gary T.,

Off course this is completely unscientific, but with those having responded, the L45 has seemed to resonate the most with its size and power.

Gary, you have pushed the '45's ahead by more than a nose now. I'd say about a full body length.

Thanks for chiming in.

Hi Anthony

I would have sent you photos of my backhoe QA but Kubota uses a different setup in Canada from what they use in the US so photos of my machine would not be relevant. IIRC you have to go with QA buckets if you want the thumb on the L39 or L45 because they attach attach to enlarged bosses on the thumb and the pin on buckets won't work with the thumb in place. There is a Canadian TBN'er who purchased a used US L39 and his father subsequently purchased an L45 in Canada and that is when he learned that his US L39 QA was not the same as that which came on the Canadian L45. He subsequently changed his L39 QA to match the L45 so that he and his father could swap buckets so it is possible he still has the US QA for the L39. Let me know if you are interested and I'll see if I can find and point you to him.

That being said, the US QA uses a pin similar to what is in your attachment. The Canadian setup uses a wedge shaped piece of steel held in place with a bolt.

Regards,

Lauren

Yeah, I believe that. Trust me, the plan is to have a thumb. I simply don't have $3400 to allocate for one. I am 100% confident that I can fabricate one significantly cheaper for myself. I'm not even sure Kubota offers a thumb "kit" for the setup I have. Buying a replacement quick attach and modifying the buckets I already have will just add to the cost/work to the point that it will simply never happen. I have a plasma cutter. I have a welder. I have the motivation.

The only struggling point I have right now is fabricating the replacement pin for the thumb to ride on. If someone could take rough measurements of the diameter and the overall length of the pin the thumb/qr ride on I may be able to buy the part from Kubota and use it with my quick attach. That would be GREATLY appreciated.
