I didn't use it in lanterns, only for the stove. Back in the 60's and 70's who knew or worried about lead poisoning. Everything seemed to have lead in it back then. It's been a long time but if I recall the Amoco high test (clear gas) was unleaded. Maybe I'm wrong, but after this many years I admit I just don't remember that detail and I was pumping it back then.
