Is Full Time Use of 4WD a Problem?

Poor little 32 horse tractor... flogging it like a rented mule.!
That was almost exactly what I was thinking! Says a 23hp guy feeling inadequate. Actually, I shouldn't say that. Mine has been perfect so far for my endeavors but I don't have the expanse of property to warrant the hp anyways.

Rear ballast on the 3 pt hitch ... Does that cause any concern ... What about excessive weight and excessive wear on the 3 point .. I don't know myself

No concerns what so ever. That's what the 3 pt is there for...

I love these posts that every once in awhile make me spit out an inopportune sip. I should know better by now to synchronize my sipping and post reading. Might have to invest in a condom for my keyboard.

:D :D

The 3pt mechanism on any tractor is designed to withstand lifting and pulling forces. I've saw a couple very old, overworked AG tractors with 3pt systems that were so worn out the bushings were barely staying in the ends of the lower arms. But they had been used almost daily for 50 years.

I've also, several times, hooked a chain to my QH top bar and used the 3pt to lift the front of my tractor off the ground while pulling. Grew up doing that on little Ford tractors that were tasked to do big Ford tractor work!!! :)

like a rented mule.!

I use that analogy a LOT. My Grandkids just chuckle with respectful tolerance. I'm sure they have no real concept of what I'm talking about!!! :D

And if they ever did wear out, they would be cheap to replace. Unlike the mechs in a front axle.
