Based on the recommendation of Island and others, I recently took delivery on a 48" Wildkat grapple http://http://www.ebay.com/itm/48-M...ultDomain_0&hash=item3cbc8c2759#ht_1902wt_796 with which I am quite pleased. The Wildkat weighs about 450 pounds and looks to me to be more similar to Island's Millonzi than the Gator.

Nice folks at Wildkat, good service.

The bottom of that grapple is virtually identical to my Millonzi except it has extra tines so they are closer together (better for rocks). The top grapple arm is wider and looks very good. It is open but the middle tine protects the cylinder which is a nice arrangement. Mine has no protection while others have a solid shield that works but limits visibility. This one seems like a very nice compromise. The only concern I have with these wide single top grapples is that you should be careful not to pick up a rock with just one of the lateral tines as that might twist the arm. Try it gently with a log or two to see how much distortion there is. For most purposes however that wider top grapple is a big plus.

I did note that they sell this model primarily for the Dingo and that some of the photos show a Dingo mini attachment. I did see one photo with a typical skidsteer mount so I hope that is the one you got. If not it really is not a big deal to cut off the dingo attachment and weld on a standard plate.

Price is great as they list it at $599. That is what I paid for my Millonzi about six years ago (also via eBay).

I'm eager to hear what you think of the grapple. Looks to me like it is an improvement over the Gator with the Millonzi style curved bottom and the wider three pronged top arm. Price is less too.

It does look like a nice grapple for the $. The thing that stands out to me tho is the hinge pins (or bolts in this case) used on the upper grapple.

Compare to the Gator.

Light Duty Root Grapple | Gator Attachments

Either the Wildkat is too light or the Gator is over kill.
Still a nice grapple.
Dan.

Those look the same as my Millonzi. They are not grease fittings on the Millonzi and I wondered if it would be a problem but after six years they are still fine.

Island, notwithstanding the photo on ebay or their web site but much to my delight, my universal skid steer mount 48" Wildkat grapple came with TWO top arms - each with two points - and TWO cylinders.

PM me with your email address if you want a photo.

Two top arms on a 48" grapple???? Interesting. I'd love to see photos and hear how it works.

I would think that the single wide upper arm would be sufficient and would weigh less and presumably cost less too. For most folks I'd say that would do. I'm sure the double arm version will do the job too, I've just never seen a double arm 48.

What did yours cost? I found the closed ebay listing for the single arm version and must stay that at $599 that is a steal. They don't list the econo 48 model on their regular website for some reason.

Would also like to see those photos and get an idea of what it cost. I am sure there is a quick tutorial on how to post pictures somewhere.

Posting pictures is easy. Just click on the "Manage Attachments" button below the text entry box while you are composing a post. It will pop up a window with buttons to browse your computer. Once you select the photos, just click to select them then click the upload button from the little pop up. That's it and you can load about four at a time. Best to resize the photos to less than one MB before you upload though. 100-500K size works fine.

(this description applies to adding photos from a new post. If you go back to edit your post and then add or change photos you need to click the "go advanced" button to get to the little photo popup.)

Photos below are of my Millonzi 48" light duty grapple.

Thanks for the "how to post" info, Island. I had to figure out how to re-size, too. I think I have it down now. Here are the photos of my 48" WildKat double arm grapple.

I haven't been able to REALLY put it to work yet, since I just ordered a tandem dually gooseneck to transport the equipment to the farm. I'll begin work there after deer season.
