LCD is current technology

Best Buy doesn't even have any LCD TVs anymore. They are LED.

Just the back white lights are LED, not a florescent light anymore. But all LED displays are coming. HS

As HS explained. LED is merely a marketing term for the backlight. The screens themselves are still oldschool LCD.

You be surprised how may things with American names or labels on them are made in S. Korea. Hard to buy a washer or dry not made there, no matter the label. HS

Just got the February issue of Costco's magazine. The cover article is about Samsung and what a great company it is. An interesting contrast.

I was looking over stock articles today and seen this Judge: Sanction for Samsung's leak of Apple secrets is public shaming - Apple 2.0 -Fortune Tech just wanted to see what thoughts you guys have on this.

IMO this is a "trick question" (yes I realize there was no question actually asked)...

From your post I take it you are more of an "investor" than a "trader"...regardless most public equities move (up or down) on "NEWS"... i.e., good=up, bad=down...however bad publicity is not always "bad news"...

If you don't feel comfortable with a stock/company...it's your choice...personally, I don't invest in the equities markets with my heart...I buy issues that will make me money in both long and short terms...money talks but you have to go with your gut/soul when it comes to practicalities when "investing" in the equities markets...

As far as ethics goes...my guess is that even in your local church there are business owners that are just as ruthless as those on wall St... it's a jungle out there...

IMO, fine art and real estate are sound investments...all the rest including the latter are subject to politics and machination...

Good Luck

One thing for anyone considering Samsung kitchen appliances.... DONT!!!

They have by far the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Their telephone support is awful. They never return calls. Long hold times. Always a different CSR. No notes made in your file.. On and on. Ive waited 6 MONTHS for parts for both my dishwasher and fridge. Id likely still be waiting if I didnt "lose it" on one front line CSR and get through to their "Executive Customer Relations" department. Once I got working with them, things went much better, but still not as smooth as it should. Never again with the Samsung appliances, they are NOT that well made to begin with.

Now the other Samsung devices I have, like Monitors, TVs and mobiles, are much better constructed and durable than the kitchen stuff, which as it turns out is subbed out to other manufacturers like Heier in China..

Samsung makes good products, but their customer service is worthless, and their business practices (which are normal for South Korea) are considered corrupt in most other parts of the world. They are ruthless about going after market share, and you can see that by the way they have gone after the smart phone market, copying Apple and crushing everyone else in the space (they are the only company on Android making big money, at the losses of the others). They have also done it in appliances, and now they are going after the medical technology world (just ask anyone that works at GE medical how it feels to compete with a corrupt foreign company that enters a market by selling at a loss to drive their competitors -- mostly US businesses -- out of business). I have a few Samsung products, but have no plans to support their corrupt business practices in the future. If they keep it up, we may see them run afoul if trade/competition laws at some point. They already got spanked to the tune of about a billion dollars in the Apple lawsuit.

Very good post. Exactly how I feel it's their way of doing business that will keep them from ever getting another penny of mine.
