Tried McMasters, tried eBay. No go

Look at McMaster Carr metric flanged Oilite bushings and they have a 21 mm OD with a 15mm ID, 25 mm long. 3mm flange thickness x 27 mm flange OD. (part linked below) It might work if you ream out the 15mm ID with a 5/8 drill. 5/8 is .005 under 16mm but drills usually drill oversize.

I've got a lathe and mill. I'll look tomorrow and see if I have any bearing bronze large enough to make it. I used to rebuild Ford Model T starters (1919-1927) and may have the bronze.

What is the outside diameter of the flange?

Thank you gents! Tinhack, is it possible to resize the piece jmc posted from McMasters? I’d happily pay for the service as I don’t any a way to clamp and drill it out.

Just wondering, what is this piece used for on seat? How accurate do you have to be.

Can tell you, it's a pivot bushing on an air ride seat. Nothing fancy at all.

If tinhack has an adjustable three jaw or a four jaw chuck then it will be possible to resize the bore.

Resizing the bore larger is not a problem. I have drill bits, boring bars and reamers. What I don't have is the stock. :(

The bushing stock I have is already cored too large. It has a 17+mm bore (0.675"). The solid stock I have is too small on the OD.

Would it help if I bought that bushing from McMasters and send it to you to be bored out?

Yes, thanks. I'll PM my address and phone.

I don't buy material for other folks any more. Got burned and left holding the bag too many times.

I checked McMaster-Carr and didn't see any minimum orders or shipping. The last time I ordered from there was probably 5+ years ago and there were restrictions on both. You couldn't buy a single item like that bushing unless you paid something like $25-$30 for it. o_O

I completely understand! I can actually prepay for your time & shipping before the part even arrives. I’ll be in touch via messenger.

Thank you ALL for pitching in your suggestions!!!

Take a look at Misumi. They have a ton of stuff that is customizable.

I think you'll do well with Tinhack, especially if you send him the mating shaft OD. He can adjust the bushing ID to any diameter with his boring bar.

To the OP, if you have the thing apart, and have a good proper working bushing, why not send that to Tinhack along with the one you want modified. That way, he can take the exact measurements he needs off of the good one, avoiding any info mixup.

I’m already in connection with him and he’s graciously is assisting me. Thank you!

The bushings came in today. I had to find this thread again to get the measurements but I have it saved now. :giggle: I'll go with photos you posted unless you have changes.

Also, I need to know if these are a press fit or if they're just a slip fit. I looked at the photos and they didn't show any press marks. Press fit bushings need to be adjusted on the ID due to press shrinkage (collapse). If I don't hear from you, I'll go with slip fit at your dimensions.

The length of the bushings are a tad short at 24.99mm so I won't dress the face. The flange is 3.03mm so I'll dress the back side of that to 2.5mm flange thickness per your photo. What you didn't show was the flange diameter. If it doesn't have to fit in a pocket, I'll leave the stock flange diameter at 26.98mm.

Glad you got them! The only change needed is the I.D. It’s a loose fit and the flange diameter is unimportant. Thank you!!!

Your item was delivered in or at the mailbox at 6:15 pm on July 19, 2021 in DEER PARK, WA 99006.

Sorry for the tardiness. I've been swamped here with rain, grass and tractor break downs. I sent a note in the package. I didn't know if I was going to be able to get back online.

Ken,

I got the bushing yesterday and like you, I got busy as well but I didn’t mind the lateness at all! The inside diameter you adjusted turned out perfect! I only had to sand the outside just a touch and it was a direct replacement!

In case anyone’s wondering, it’s for a seat suspension for a Kenworth truck. Without it, the seat tips to the left and wiggles. This is gonna make the ride safer!

Ken, I saw the note, thank you but expect someone coming your way. Don’t worry, I’ll still pay it forward! I TRULY appreciate your willingness to do this for a stranger, you are a diamond in the rough! THANK YOU! And thanks to all who contributed suggestions & ideas, including JMC who searched & found the closest match!

You know you can buy those in a rebuild kit?
KW should be able to get the parts for that seat. If not, they are available online.
