Wow. That's the kind of machining there is just no excuse for! Would never have picked that as the problem. I know that QA processes are now done by consumers when they get a busted product, but surely whoever screwed the plug in must have noticed! Absolutely stunning!

Hope this is the end of the problems - have you checked the rest of the block & machining? Be a PITA to get it back and discover this was only 1 of n crooked surfaces!

Cheers

I'm guessing it was over tight because it was crooked, and assembler tried to seat it.
Looked it over very carefully no other crooked fittings or plugs.
I hope no more problems also Kevin.. Got it back from shop,($40.00) looks good now. All back together and just finished playing and then washed it, working fine, no more leaks evident --at this time--- Hey with the leaks ( behind me) and all, this is still one heavy duty little hoe at a price thats hard to beat..

Well, that's a nice outcome for $40.00 and a lot of anxiety ;)

I still can't believe someone could have done that at the factory. Geez you'd think the bloke would have thought "cripes! ain't going to seal! It's all squint!".

Your hoe does look pretty H/D though!

Cheers

ha ha he it's all squint! love your english kevin..
Well it was so tight that couldn't easily see it was cocked.. When I put a new washer on  I thought, huh,... whatsit,...... no, then with new plug it looked even worse!
I think the bloke thought blymie (spelling?) not staying late to fix this! Then he got a long pipe:D

Hmmm - not sure how to take that ;-) You make it look like I'm English  (which many Australians would not take kindly to!).

Just to get back on topic - I'm assuming the valve stack is "generic chinese"? I've got a hand-me-down engine crane from my father that has the holes in the end of the cylinder drilled a good 5 or so degrees off. Makes getting the bolt in a whole load of fun! Especially now it is on the 3pt and you need an extra hand to hold it all in place until you pop the bolt through! I just can't figure out how things like this get through even the most basic QA process...

Oooops sorry, only meant "english" in the common language of our respective countries content:eek: not that island by europe:D

And yes QA for some factories, seems to be afterthought, random one out of a hundred, not part of a primary buisness plan. I see it often in auto repair parts. I refuse to buy from one very large aftermarket supplier for new part failure reasons:mad: Doesn't matter if they honor a parts warrantee if the labor cost falls on my shoulders.
