I hate to be the millennial in the room, but the in my opinion, the best course of action here would be to delete your AOL account yourself. It's not 2001 anymore...

Why does it matter who hosts your email? Seems more of a hassle to change it then make sure you give your new address to everyone.

Interestingly, a year or so ago I tried to create an AOL email account (basically as a disposable spam account), and they wouldn't let me create it unless I gave them a cellphone #. I have no idea why. They would not accept a landline # (last thing I need is more junk phonecalls...tried using a fax # from work).
