The tractor that is...

Hello Gang,
I need some of the knowledge from members with some (knowledge that is /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Experience would be a plus also. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now let's get serious. I just purchsed a Gannon FD 100 rollover box blade from an old friend. He had told me it was a 5 footer. When I got to his place turns out it is 5 & half feet (66 inches). He felt my little B 2190 could handle it so we loaded it up and I brought it home. Just hooked it up and B 2910 does pull it in 4WD M range with the blade working. However when the "teeth" are used it can't cut the mustard; small pine roots stop tractor in it tracks. I have e-mailed Woods to see if they can give me the weight. (I'm guessing at least 800-900 lbs.)

Should I sell this and find a smaller rollover for my use?

Thanks in advance for all opinions and suggestions.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I tried in Low.
I just mentioned M range to let you know that I could move some dirt in M range. Low would still make the tires spin when the going got too tough.

Re: It ain\'t broke YET

Sorry to hear that it wont pull it. From what i hear the Gannons are very heavy. Perhaps your friend will give you a refund. I use a 72in boxblade but it only weighs 550lbs . Its a King Kutter but for a 30hp tractor its all ive ever needed.I can run in medium but when i get the rippers down in wet clay i stay in low. They carry these at tractor supply if you have one close, they are very reasonably priced... Good luck

I think this may be a hard call...

I have a 5' KK box blade. I put several 12" concrete blocks on it to give it more weight so it cuts better. My tractor is also a B2910.

If I catch a root with my scarifiers, my tractor may stop pulling too. Depends on the root. The root either breaks or the tractor stops. When I say stops, I mean looses traction. Wheels spin but forward motion stops.

Sounds like you have a nice box blade there, maybe a little large for the B2910, but still maybe quite useful.

I just wonder if you caught the same root with a KK box blade that is much lighter, would the tractor still stop and spin the wheels?

Maybe the problem is tough roots and not the tractor/box blade combination...
