I don't think it's a Woods cutter (although Woods does make implements for Frontier/Deere). Nice cutter though and decent price too. I'd go for it in a heartbeat!

So what should I get? Drive 45 minutes and get the Frontier 72" mower (which is all I need really) for $1000 or drive 4 hours (8 hours round trip) and get the Woods Brushbull for $1600. Both are in great shape, I realize the Woods is a beafier unit and I assume the Frontier is a good unit as well.

What would you guys do?

What are you cutting? If it's a field, even with tall growth, that Frontier unit would work fine. Plant growth cuts pretty easily...just take your time for that first mowing and keep your bucket low (no more than 5 or 6 inches off the ground).
If you're knocking down trees more then a couple inches in diameter, I'd go with the BrushBull.

Cutting tall bahia grass, small brazilian pepper sapplings (less than 2" diameter). I have been reading about some problems here and there with Frontier units and no problems whatsoever with the Woods model. I'm pretty sure the Frontier unit would be fine, but boy I sure hate buying things twice!

Thanks for the help!

Frontier doesn't manufacture any implements...they buy and re-badge them. As an example, my "Frontier" finishing mower is a Woods product (even has "Woods" cast into the gearbox housing).
That cutter could be a BEFCO or other brand. In fact, after looking at the Woods website, now I think that Frontier might be a Wood unit.

So, it's closer...and looking at it doesn't mean you have to buy it! If it has Woods on the gear box, it's a Woods cutter...albeit, a "standard" duty one (as opposed to the heavier duty Brushbulls).

In your earlier post you stated that the Frontier had been removed from Craigslist.
Are you suggesting now that it IS still available?
Why not just drive the 45 minutes to LaBelle (with $1000 cash in your pocket), and make your decision there?

The guy returned my call last night and said he took a small deposit a week and half ago and has not heard back from the guy. He said for me to call him this morning and he will sell it to me if he doesn't hear from him this morning.

Yep, I have a Frontier 72" finish mower and it is a Woods and I love it.

A few days ago I went to look at an old 7 foot massey ferg. grader blade that was in great shape, bought it for $200 Thought that was a great deal. While I was there the guy said he had a bush hog he would sell also. We walked over to take a look at it, he had it under a carport covered with a heavy tarp. I didn't inspect it closely didn't even completely uncover it. But it still had red paint on the side of it Bushhog Squealer 5 Foot. It did have a small rusted out place on the top front edge under the pto shaft. He said it had not been used in 4 or 5 years. He wanted $225 for it I said i'll take that too. I have read on here that a lot of you guys think the squealer is not that good, but it is a bushhog brand and for what I will be cutting ( grass, weeds and maybe small sapplings and briars) I figure it should serve me very well at a great price. And even if it does need some repairs or even a new gear box, I should still be under $400 or $500 so I think I made out like a bandit on the 5 ft. hog and 7 ft. blade for $425 total. Watta you guys think ???

Sounds like a great deal!

I thought so, even with having to drive an hour and a half one way to get it. Most old used bushhogs look rough and have maybe been repainted to mask some of the damage although it makes them look much better, you just never know, but around here they were in the $375-450 range. And it seems there are not that many old heavy blades around here, so I was very happy with what I found.
