Deere 4044R cab, Kubota KX-121-3S
Downsizing from an L4630HST since the heavy work that remains on my acreage can easily be done with the 3030 and my mini-excavator. My wife loves it. I have mixed feelings. It's so incredibly tiny, like a tractor only smaller! But that has some benefits as well. It will fit into the sheep stalls so we can muck Baah Doo with the bucket instead of with shovels. It has a much lighter footprint so won't damage the meadow so much. The tires are much smaller which means my Norse-style ice chains will be much lighter and easier to handle.

I really was considering a cab model, but my wife has a habit of running into things and the damage would have been $$$. For the same reason I'll pass on the fiberglass canopy.

It'll soon be time to change my sig file.

Pete

Nice tractor.

In your signature I saw that you have a Farmi Winch. Will you be selling that? I am assuming that a 501 is a little big for a 3030?

That 501 ought to let me drag that little tractor anywhere I can find a tree!

Sorry, it's a package trade. Tractor, loader, winch, rear blade and forks for a similarly equipped B3030

Very nice tractor. I am sure you will get use to the size, sometimes a smaller tractor is really nice and they are really maneuverable.

I went the other way. Trade a BX for the b3030. went from very small to a little tractor.

I've traded up and I've traded down. I like em all. Tractors can be to big and they can be to small. It's like porrige(soup I guess) to hot , to cold and just right. Tractors need to suit the jobs needing done 95% of the time. That extra 5% can be worked out some way. Congratulations on your trade!

John, John, John, I see it coming. :D :D I'm not so sure I'm feeling change here as maybe addition, but I've been wrong before.

Nice! Best of luck with it.

How are "Norse-style ice chains" different from regular?

Wrong, wrong, wrong!! You guys are wrong this time! I "almost" guarantee you. Wrong! I been working the snot out of my BX2660 the last few days and a B2630 wouldn't have done some of the jobs much better or easier or faster at all, hardly.:) Beside a B2630 with FEL and BH is way more than a BX25.:)

I count alot of you guys as friends. Friends do not encourage an addict to keep on with their addiction. Shame on you all!!! I'm leaving for a 3 day Spiritual Retreat in a few minutes (Emmaus Walk) so I'll be away from you guys in just a few minutes for 3 days. And my Kubotas and cell phone and TV.

Congratulations, Pete, on your new, downsized, workhorse. Hope it serves you well. It will be interesting to hear if you find the narrower footprint of the 3030 translates into a sense of less stability vs. the 4630. The B3030 is also lower, which helps, but you sometimes hear owners talk about their stability concerns. You're in a pretty unique position to compare, since you'll be operating this new one over the same ground, and maybe doing similar work.

Well John, the Lord still loves you, and we do too. We probably all have the sickness in one way or another, but you are just more honest about it.

Hope you enjoy the retreat John. I'll call the Barlow boys and tell them business will be slow for the next few days. :D

Pete,
Congrats on the new tractor. I'm glad to see you posting again. I always enjoyed hearing of your adventures with the dogs and animals.

Well, it's here. The dealer delivered this morning about 9 and took my L4630 away. Seeing them side-by-side all I could say was, "Wow, it's tiny!"

Pros: My wife likes the size. The FEL has a surprising amount of ooomph for something so small. And it's very maneuverable with great visibility all around!

Cons: The operator's station is really cramped, and with all those levers surrounding the seat I have to be really careful what I grab when mounting. And the lack of power compared to the Grande L is really startling. I can easily walk uphill twice as fast as this tractor.

My tach seems to be malfunctioning. It reads about 1800rpm at idle, but the feel is the same as the L4630 at idle. With the throttle wide open the tach reads about 3200rpm -- does that sound right? At 3/4 throttle the tach swings back and forth from 1500 to 3000rpms even though the engine sounds hold steady.

But I think it'll grow on me. It is incredibly nimble, which should make mowing a pleasure. And the R4s are really gentle on the turf.

So what kind of logging winch did you get on that B3030? I am loving my B7800, you don't always have to lift a ton! Did you get the LA504 loader on your new tractor? If so, what do you think of it? Did you get a Q/A on the loader? I am new to a smaller Kubota also and surprisingly to me, liking it!

Well let's see it's been 2 days... has anyone seen a post by John?
