This is by design. We have automated emails going out 2x a week with trending threads from the past few days. This has been getting a lot of members to come back to the site... which is exactly what we were hoping would happen! This time it's on the ROPS and apple trees thread, but I've seen it on several others. Members with 5, 10, 15 or more years since they signed up, but with few if any posts. Often less than 20 posts, sometimes less than 5. It isn't a problem, but it's a curiosity as to what is drawing them back after so many years.
WHAT? Are you saying advertising works? This is by design. We have automated emails going out 2x a week with trending threads from the past few days. This has been getting a lot of members to come back to the site... which is exactly what we were hoping would happen!
So the email blast campaign draws more posters, but lowers the quality of discussion. Hmm.I've seen hints that they are only seeing the original post in an email and responding to that, which should not be happening. They should be required to come into the thread to be able to reply.
