You first must make friends with Mr. Rabbit. Then he wispers to you the hiding spot of Mr. Sly Fox. Then you nuke them all.:licking:
Good Hunting. Ah the smell of napalm.

I admit that i have not read all eleven pages of posts here but have you tried setting up a trail cam to try and pattern your fox adversary?

I agree with Strum456 - get a game camera(s). Fox are typically very good at learning your habits. It would be helpful to know where he typically comes from.

Good luck!

Hey, David, I really like the "paper weight." :D

Dude... It is a tack driver... I'm no sniper, I shoot pretty well, good enough to kill whatever I'm hunting most of the time, but he is/was a sniper. His "office" and "shop" are amazing...

It is only a 4x scope but he has used it, as is, to head shoot a groundhog at almost 500 yds... If I ever get that fox in the scope, he's getting lead poisoning...

I think I'm going to have to ask him to build me one of these.

David

Good ideas. I need to get some game cams, I had some I was borrowing...

Here is the best map I can make...

I'm listening to all advice...

The best way is just to trap them, if done right you will probably catch them the first night your sets are made. If you are not familiar with fox trapping methods get a local trapper in there to catch them.

Nice place...but you have a problem. Dogs are extremely wary and usually circle checking the wind if they have cover available to do so. Your layout plays into Mr. Fox's paws. However he has developed a pattern and in that pattern is confidence along with a familiarity to human scent. So, replicate that pattern(location and time) to remove wariness.

So, here are my pelt crawling thoughts: I can't remember, but do you have the remote teaser decoys that wobbles/wiggles around? If not get one, then I would get the girls to gather up a bunch of chicken feathers and glue them onto the decoy. Build a ground blind within your comfortable accurate range. Set the decoy out and the hard part...waiting while remaining alert. When Mr. Fox shows up, I bet he moves in very quickly and attacks. As soon as he figures out he has been decoyed, he ain't going to be hanging around, so you have to be sending lead. I really think a 12ga shotgun with #1 or 2 pellets is a better choice in this scenario than a scoped rifle. Because, it's going to happen fast and if you are not behind the scope and ready, you are gonna miss the action. #1 or 2 at 50 yards throws a pretty effective pattern and a semi auto with the plug removed gives you 4-5 chances to put him down.

Sorry, but I am still picturing you as Bill Murray in fatigues, a jungle hat and that off center lower lip saying: " I smell varmint poontang. And the only good varmint poontang is dead varmint poontang, I think. "

I wish I was closer...but I am allergic to I95........

I agree. I posted and attached this link a couple of pages back. Not sure what these people will charge you, but the nuisance trappers I have run into generally know what they are doing.
